hussey=LEGEND. thats my view. but anyway...the newest game has just started. but really my carefactor for this series is zero. i cant wait for THE ASHES!! we are gonna absolutely smash those stupid english knobs...especially stupid pieterson...i cant stand that jerk!!...does anybody have tickets? im goin to days 2 & 4 of the sydney test...i lined up for 5hrs!!!
...what the hell...waston is opening for australia! i dont think he's proven himself yet...our team is fairly average...but we need to blood some young talent. BRING BACK HUSSEY!-also lee & gilchrist!!

yeah im goin to the ashes in perth at the WACA. the reason why huss, gilly and the like arent playin in the DLF cup is mainly due to the upcoming ashes series. they had a massive season last year which didnt conclude till aboout april (bangladesh tour). hussey will play in the DLF cup tournament, he was recently made vice captain while gilly is absent from the series.

YES!! Somewhere to talk about my cricket obsession. Yeah Hussdog is pretty awesome but I also rate Punter and Bing as the best in the world (behind yours truly of corse).
Im going to the second day of the Melbourne test. Should be awesome.

I'm going to days 3 & 4 of the GABBA test...it's gonna be wicked.
Watson got about 79 off 74 today...Clarke made 64 off 94(Katich-esque)
Australia bowled out for 244....damn we are gonna get slaughtered with Tendulkar and the like in form...

This season coming up is IMO the BEST INTERNATIONAL SEASON EVER. What have we got....lets see:
ICC Champions Trophy
Ashes
VB Series (NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!! FUCK YES!!! England and Aussie.)
Chappell-Hadlee cup
World Cup
.....Plus many more, but that's what we're all looking forward to the most over the ditch.
Me personally cannot wait any longer for the VB Series, Chappell-Hadlee series and the World Cup. Lets face it, anytime NZ play Australia in Australia, it's always special, because every game is so friggin close and NZ always raise their game. Gets me thinking... BOY do we have a chance to win the VB series/CH series with SHANE BOND back fit and ready. BRING IT ON!

I love my cricket too, it's great... the long summer days spent watching either cricket or tennis are so much fun! Not going to the Ashes this year for the Boxing Day test but i'll definately be trying to get tickets to at least one ODI against England and maybe another for the Chappell-Hadlee series.
Last year i went to the Australia vs World XI in Melbourne, it was great fun, great to see so many amazing players there. Except the lady behind us liked Flintoff, and so when he was batting she yelled in our ears a lot, even when the other batsman on with him hit a four she'd yell "Go Freddy! I love you!" Then she went out to have a smoke, in which time Flintoff got out... the whole crowd laughed at her when she got back. Also the Kiwi jokes were great fun. [/random story]
Anyway, can't wait for it to start back in Oz. Haven't been paying a lot of attention to this series or whatever it is in Malaysia, but once it really starts to get under way I'll be glued to the television. =D

Well I guess we do the same to you when the New Zealanders play here... I feel so sorry for... i can't rmeember who it was. But he plays for New Zealand and he fielded in front of where we were sitting and the crowd gave him so much shit... singing baa baa black sheep and stuff. So funny. And my cousin didn't understand any of it so I had to explain it to him haha. Good times.
Oh forgot to mention Pup Clarke is my favourite, i have a signed poster of his in my room. :D

BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP! I'll admit, that's a good one. I'm gonna try and remember the abuse we were giving the Aussies at the Eden Park ODI, i remember Stuart Clark abuse, manit was funny. They even had to call the game off for awhile because of how much shit we were throwing at them. GOOD TIMES.
I'm sure one of Clarkes relatives is in Home and Away. You know, the young cop, who almost died but lived. Looks EXACTLY like Michael Clarke.

Awww it wasn't funny it was MEAN! Though we give you so much shit too so I guess it's fair enough but still. All that throwing shit was waaaaaaaay over the top, i was really pissed off while i was sitting and watching. Terrible behaviour. Though we did have all that racist crap this year didn't we? India are god damn lucky...Mitchell Johnson was carving turkey out of em, he ended up with 4/11.
India were 5/35 off 8 overs when the match was abandoned, down to a revised Duckworth/Lewis target of 169 off 29 overs...Damn that victory for us was almost certain,Mahendra Dhoni and Suresh Raina were at the crease, the last two recognised batsman. Oh well, what can you do.

Shane Bond is a superb bowler when he isn't injured. He seems to step up a level or two against Australia.
Australia currently 2/52 off 13.3 overs against the West Indies...Watson got a seven-ball duck, which is a shame considering the form he is in. Katich got 22 off 21. Not out batsman are Hayden 22 off 45. Symonds 5 off 10...still got Clarke, Hussey Haddin and co to come.
Marv From NZ
09-18-2006, 06:16 PM
When Bond's fully fit and not injured, he's the best bowler in the world, that simple really. His knew straight on action should prevent him from serious injuries, especially back ones. He's still bowling in the late 140s and 150s, so mix that with his line and lentgh, his inswinging yorkers and you've got an unbeatable formula. Just ask West Indies.
Habibster
09-18-2006, 07:26 PM
I don't think Brett Lee would be too happy about your statement about Bond being 'the best bowler in the world'........Binga can bat a fair bit too.. ;) (not that batting has anything to do with bowling)....
Australia are currently 132/5 off 32. Hussey's on 35 (40) and Haddin 9 (20)...We're in a bit of trouble here. I wish Pup went well :( (he scored 1 off 8)

what do people think about:
watson v katich for opener?
i dont think either of them should be it. katich is as exciting as watching grass grow and watson still hasnt proved himself...he has one good game then five ordinary ones. i choose hayden.
Shoaib Akhtar and Mohd Asif taking drugs?

Watch your wording dude. That could be taken the wrong way, so be careful with what you say. Anyways....
I'd say Katich with Hayden, simply because experience means everything in tournaments. For the drugs incident, innocent till proven guilty me says, take some more tests with them or whatever and then from there judge if they are truely cheating bastards.
Yup...NZ is looking super so far. These pitches will suit us greatly. Bummer about Styris and Bond missing the opener for pre-caution reasons, but heck doesn't matter, we beat South Africa and that's all that matters as of now. Great team performance. Can't wait for Scotty and Bond to take the pitch for the rest of the games, should be beautiful. We only need one more game to win to qualify for the semis and i'm extremely confident we'll beat one of either Sri Lanka or West Indies, taking into consideration our recent records against them, which are both 4-1 respectively to NZ. Ohhhhhh and Stephen Fleming take a bow.....fucking LEGEND.

When i made the comment a fair few posts back about Moises Henriques being a bolter for the ashes, i knew it was gonna get that response :p .....he is a top quality all-rounder
Full name Moises Constantino Henriques
Born February 1, 1987, Funchal, Portugal
Current age 19 years 260 days
Major teams Australia Under-19s, New South Wales
Nickname Moey
Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling style Right-arm medium-fast
Height 1.87 m
Moises Henriques was so young when he first came into the New South Wales squad that he could only train in school holidays and often had to catch a taxi to practice. By the age of 18 he had already won praise from Trevor Hohns, the former national chairman of selectors, and a rookie contract with the Blues. After starring as captain of Australia's Under-19 side - he first made the team as a 16-year-old - with 16 World Cup wickets in Sri Lanka at 10.62 and 150 runs at 37.5, Henriques played his second senior game in the final of the 2005-06 ING Cup. As the Blues were heading towards the tightest of victories over South Australia, Henriques, the No. 9, refused to fluster and was unbeaten on 5 from 21 balls when Stuart MacGill squirted the winning run.
A 187cm opening bowler, Henriques is the youngest player to collect ten wickets in a Sydney first-grade match, and he supplements his skills with fine middle-order strokeplay. "Moises is a genuine allrounder who would be selected in sides for his bowling or his batting alone," Hohns said in 2004. "He is an outstanding prospect and certainly has a bright future." Born on the Portuguese island of Madeira, Henriques arrived in Australia as a baby and first played cricket with friends aged nine. Occasionally compared to Steve Waugh, he looks overseas for Jacques Kallis as an all-round idol. "Everyone asks me if I prefer batting or bowling," he says, "I couldn't choose if I had to pick one."

Man i'm excited about tonights game! Bondy's all ready to play, although the downside is that Styris is out, which is a huge loss in our batting department, i guess that means that capataney Fleming is gonna have to put in another captains knock, and we're probably gonna need at least another 2 more solid contributions from other batsmen, me is looking at most likely Marshall, Oram or McCullum to provide the much needed goods, people are gonna have to bring their A game that's for sure. Go the KIWIS!

What are you on about? McCullum basically won us the last game of the Chappell-Hadlee series this year and since then McCullum has been consistent with his form and is extremely reliable, he scored like 35 of 21 balls in the last match we played and pitched in some runs in the other games aswell. Jacom Oram has just come back from injury basically, and has found some great all rounders form, i'd be scared of him. He scored 39 off 21 balls or something like that against Pakistan aswell, and has got around 6 or 7 wickets so far with the ball, he's probably our 3rd best player atm. LOL the news programs just ran some pieces about shane Bonds stats against the Aussies, they're bloody freakish. He averages 7.something against you per wicket.......man i'm excited.

Yeah i got frustrated watching those 6 wickets fall for 35 runs. Felt like punching the tv screen at 3.30am. As far as i'm concerned get Fulton and Marshall out of the team right fucking now, they're a liability, and get the ever so reliable Ross Taylor and oldhead Matt Sinclair back in our ODI team, fucking disgraceful top order batting performance. But to the positives now......KYLE MILLS take a bow, you're a bloody legend, you truely are a world class bowler now, stand up and be proud of your 4 wickets, that opening bowling performance you had with Bond was some of the best shit i've ever seen from the Blackcaps, period! Fudging OUTSTANDING. SHANE BOND....what can i say, you didn't let me down, i've never seen so much fast movement in the air like that for a long time and it was great to see. Man those inswinging yorkers and inswing back of a length balls, really cut alot of the Aussies in half, i felt like crying, was a joy to watch, especially when Ponting almost got given lbw due tyo Bonds inswinging yorker, fuck that reminded me alot of the old Bond back in 2002/03, good pace aswell on a slow wicket, greta to see you back. And yeah that was about it really....and Vettori and Oram can be proud aswell, they did great things with bat and ball. Look forward to the VB series.

KillingInTheNameOf

Theyre nothing alike.
And if you did have to rate them against each other White is the better bat, fieldsman and has IMO better leadership qualities
Julian
11-03-2006, 02:29 PM
He's such a mediocre player and so overrated it's not even funny. He's been in the system for a fair while now and hasn't achieved anything really. Cullen's going to be the replacement for Shane Warne, no doubt about it. We don't need a mediocre batter and bowler to replace one of the best spin bowlers ever. White might be a handy ODI player one day, that's it.
And I don't think White is even contracted by Australia.

Julian
11-03-2006, 02:47 PM
22 but he's only just really broken through and is obviously already rated ahead of White who isn't contracted. All rounders need to be great at something and decent at the other. Imo White is a mediocre batter and a medicore bowler, there's really no room in the Australian Test side for that.
KillingInTheNameOf
11-03-2006, 03:27 PM
He'll get there soon enough.
Shaun Tait has been around for a while as well, and has only been contracted in the last year
IMO theyre probably waiting for White to get closer to fulfilling his potential before giving him a run.
In Australia A matches he pummelled whoever it was we played in the last VB series

God i hate those channel nine commentators. You don't get much more one sided/biased and unfair than that really. All they do is asslick(Talk up) the daylight out of the Australian team and give the opposing side, in this case, England, shite'ly unfair criticism/crap. It's sad, unprofessional and it annoys the heck out of me.
then don't listen to it...use a radio or something
I've really had enough of people ragging out the commentators on channel 9. They are the best going around and when they do retire, cricket in Australia will never be the same. Well thats it. England's bowling yesterday was average and they got punished for it. Today they bowled better and still got smacked around by even the bottom order batsmen. The commentary was one sided because the game was one sided.

Australia have got it covered. They are doing what England should have done in the first test. They've been out batted, instead of being silly and chasing ridiculous totals they are stringing out the first innings. If they keep going the way they have been, the second innings won't start until late tomorrow afternoon. That leaves one day of play to finish it... thats not going to happen.

What do you mean they were always going to lose? They lost because they tried to equal Australia's batting efforts instead of putting in a good stand. If they played it smarter and much calmer they could have batted like they did in the second innings. Its got nothing to do with the wicket, its experience. Half the English team was probably concentrating on not wetting their pants from being so nervous in the first test.

England weren't prepared? Fuck off, they were just as prepared as us, that's a crap excuse to lose a test match. Harmisson is a player that lacks self confidence, he had a shit day and it just got alot worse for him.
McGrath probably shouldn't have been played and the pitch isn't suiting Warne that much. Add to that you have a perfect batting pitch. There's your difference right there.

The odds are definitly stacked against England to draw the series (let's face it, England won't win it, their best chance is to draw it out.), but anything can happen in cricket and they aren't out of it yet, so they're a solid chance is probably the best way to put it.

Being a SACA member I was in the stands for the majority of Day 1, was unfortunately busy on Day 2, all day Day 3, school on Day 4 and on Day 5 I got there 2 overs before England were bowled out.
The run chase was just plain awesome. You could tell from the 2nd ball when Langer smashed it to the boundary that the Aussies wanted the win and it was gonna be a runfest.
The crowd went absolutely mental for every run, and after Pietersen threw those 4 over throws.... The whole ground erupted in cheers. Joy to watch, brilliant play

3-1 for me. I think there's a bit of life in the series yet.
OOOH! We caught it from 9 runs or so while we had breakfast, that was so awesome - a great start to the day! Drove to the school with the Australian car flag on again...no wonder nobody would let us in at the roundabout. But who really cares..

cool. thanks. there was a funny thing in the sydney 'sunday telegraph' the other day. they have a 'kooky captions' section where they print a photo & people send in funny captions for it to win a prize. this weeks one was a picture of the police confiscating one of those blow up sex dolls at the cricket. the winning caption said "give it to the poms, so its easier for them to 'score' "!!!! ha ha.

Yeah, sorta like how "Roy" Andrew Symonds isn't really Australian because he played for the English A Grade national team back in the day and is of English heritage, even though the guy completely denies/trys to reject it, which is pretty sad.

His highest Test score is around 72 from what I can remember... Hopefully if he does get the nod to play in the Perth Test he will defend his wicket to the death and build up a nice innings.
Or then again he could just smash the absolute shit out of the English bowling attack, either way lol

He is the biggest waste of a test spot. He's been in the system for ages and there's a reason why he hasn't cemented a spot. We don't need a medicore bowler and a quick run scorer in our test team. I read somewhere Australia should go with Voges because of 'youth'. Anyone realise he's actually 27? It's about time Australia took a real risk and put someone young like Cosgrove in.

Good point Julian...
I reckon in test cricket there is not much use having a batsman who scores quick 30's or 40's then gets out...yes it may change the flow of the game, but i reckon you need to have somone down in the middle order who can grind it out if there is a collapse. My choice for that spot that Symonds is taking, would've been, surprisingly, Cameron White. I'm not a big fan of Cameron, but i reckon he would make a team purely on his batting (I don't reckon he is too much of a bowler, I think that will drop off as he gets older). Cosgrove and Jaques would be up there too.
Oh and i think there are better number six batsman in the country then Symonds, but in saying that, i hope he scores some runs and gets a few wickets.

Hence why Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq are useless players
If those two players are useless, then the 2005/2006 Gilchrist you could say is useless aswell. His test average these past couple of years is well below what you'd expect from him, but his strike rate is still in the 90's, so what you see is, you see him slog a quick 30 or 40 and then he gets out playing a silly shot. Pretty useless i guess..... ;) :p
KillingInTheNameOf
12-13-2006, 08:20 PM
I would agree.
Cept he bats at 7, not at 6 or whatever Razzaq bats at. And we've got the other batsmen to make up for it :p

gilly has changed cricket...nowadays keepers must be able to both bat & keep...not just rely on their keeping skills (eg jones ahead of read for the poms). although i think his keeping is underrated!! 48 is a fantatsic average for a #7!! its just such a shame he couldnt bat higher in the order (#4 or 5) because then he'd have more time to build an innings. although his average has dropped i think that he is an automatic selection until he retires. i also think that great players should be remember for what they played like during their prime. which is why I will always think of gilchrist, hayden, steve waugh, mcgrath etc. of what they played like 3 or 4 yrs before their retirement. whilst still performing well at the end of their careers, they were/are not as good as they used to be. i think haddin will be a more than suitable replacement for gilly when he calls it a day. (i think it could be after the World cup & i hope he doesnt drag it out too long & his average drops more).

All out for 244 aye.....Fair to say the English coaches/team selectors are gonna cop quite the whopping from the media for keeping Mr. 5 wicket bag Monty out of the side for the first two matches, while preferring to stick with old man giles. Silly, silly, silly....it could all be so different right now for the English. But yeah....extremely impressive bowling performance by England so far, but they gotta back it up with another decent batting performance or it's over.

Monty shouldn't have had 5 wickets. Langer sure that was a good bowl, but the LBW and symonds don't really count. Stupidity was to blame!
