I think there was a thread for this quite a while ago, or perhaps I was just hallucinating.

So, who else in on Last.FM, and those of you who are, where's your profile?

I accidently deleted my information a while ago, and theres not much on it at the moment because my computer isnt in very good shape.

You download a plugin for whatever media player you have, and it uploads what you play and how much you play of it to a server, which generates a profile, and charts.

Along with this you get a streaming radio station tailored to your tastes which is very good, sadly I don't have ADSL so I've only heard it a few times at friends places, but even that was enough to get me into a couple of new bands.

There are groups you can join too, and group charts are generated, and there are forums, and you can post journal entries. Oh, and it generates charts for each artist, ie. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Living+End

It shouldn't make much of a dent in your downloads, it's a tiny text submission every few songs, I doubt it would even total 1 mb a month, you could try it for a day or two perhaps.
