Not sure when the lineup is announced or when the dates are.

The dates that were "leaked" on the BDOFORUMS myspace is bullshit. The dates are wrong

Green Day are rumoured to be here in March, playing a much larger venue than Telstra Dome.

telstra dome was half empty/full last time wasn't it? (i read something about it...now im not too sure)

I heard rumours a little while ago too. Would be suprised if they did, as they came twice last year. Erin, I think there was about 37,000 at Telstra Dome last time, which was a bit disappointing.

I'd be stoked if they did come out again though.

Im still considering on going to the BDO, I have never been but it's definately something I need to do. If The Killers are perfoming though, Im fucking there.

$89 was a good price for Greenday

Earlier in the year it cost something like $60-70. If they're here again my pocket (actually, my DAD'S pocket) is going to be considerably lighter. I love GD and I'd definately see them but personally I think $90+ is pretty steep.

Kev
09-19-2006, 04:29 PM
another hot rumour for BDO is the Foo Fighters.

They have announced 3 shows in Sydney only, but from what we can gather, its only just a teaser for the rest of the country for early next year. Its happened before.

Jawn
09-19-2006, 06:49 PM
Gah the Foo Fighters bore me.

I don't think there is a larger venue in Melbourne apart from Telstra Dome for Green Day. Unless they play the M.C.G. But in March, they wont get on it due to the football.

Kev

That reminds me of a funny article I read in the Ballarat paper awhile ago. It was saying that the council was going to try to get BDO there cos there wasn't anywhere to have it in Melbs. Cos yeah they'd have it in Ballarat losers. BDO Ballarat is just wrong.

Well we had confirmation that a friend and myself are doing promotional stuffs for the Melbourne BDO through our radio shows, and they didnt have anything to say about the Melbourne situation.

They wont not have it, BDO would loose too much money if they didnt have it.

Also the media has gotten alot of their information from the BDO forums, and most of that is made up by us, just to piss them off.

With bands to be expected on the bill:

Tool (Headliner)
Muse
The Killers

The press release that was 'leaked' a couple of weeks ago was fake, but it did make its way to Channel V, Herald Sun, and a bunch of other websites.

$90 for Green Day is a friggen rip off. They headlined Rockit over here for $70, and there were a whole host of other bands which were awesome. I wouldn't pay that much for them on their own.

I would have rathered to see A Perfect Circle headline BDO rather than Tool...not really a huge fan, but some of my mates will be stoked.

From what I've heard of the lineup rumours... eh, not that exciting. Especially after this years was so good. Maybe if Beck is there. Still, for $110, you'd want to like more then one of the bands.

What did Maynard have against the Gurus? I don't get it, they're from two different worlds and wouldn't have anything to do with one another?

I felt sorry for the Gurus at BDO '04, they were playing to a crowd that were waiting to see Metallica..

The Big Day Out is a top day whether you like the bands or not.. and after the day you'll probably come out liking a few more band that you previously didn't.

I'd like to see Eagles Of Death Metal, The Datsuns, Mondo Generator and Fu Manchu play BDO '07.. all of those bands have been tipped to be coming out, but it may not be for the BDO.

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/big-day-out-saved-but-last-time-in-carlton/2006/10/03/1159641328044.html

The Big Day Out has been saved. The music festival will go ahead for a second year running at Carlton's Princes Park on January 28.

Melbourne City Council last night voted to allow the festival, now in its 15th year, to go ahead on the condition that it never come back to Carlton.

Last year the festival drew a crowd of 40,000 people, held in the park because of redevelopment of its traditional home at the Showgrounds.

The Big Day Out in 2007 will have a distinct prog-rock flavour, with Tool and Muse headlining the festival.
The bands have released two of the most interesting hard-rock albums of the year to date in 10,000 Days and Black Holes and Revelations.

They will be joined by the Killers, Peaches, My Chemical Romance, Spank Rock and the Violent Femmes, which played at the first Big Day Out, along with Nirvana, in Sydney in 1992.

The Australian contingent will be led by Jet, which will graduate to the main stage, Eskimo Joe, Evermore, the Sleepy Jackson, the Herd and the Spazzys.

Alas I shall not be in attendance, im not shelling out 120 clams just for Muse

Muse might be fun, Killers will be alright as long as I can get drunk enough to sing "I GOT SOUL BUT IM NOT A SOLDIER" throughout the whole set (which is doubtful considering the price of grog is a rip). Violent Femmes will only be fun for Blister in the sun. I was hoping the bullshitted lineup was true when they said Daddy Cool. I would go for Daddy Cool alone.

Who was in this years lineup?

Apart from the obvious

I'm not gonna go.

There's pretty much only 3 bands I'd want to see, and even though $110 is good for three bands, not when it's my first BDO... Not going, I don't think.

Really don't see the appeal for 07. I'd go for Muse and the Herd, and Blister In The Sun, as Jawn said.

Already people are saying the 2007 lineup is waaaay better than 2006

TWS bore me.

I totally agree with you. The lineup shits all over 2006s thats for sure. TWS bored me shitless aswell as headliners, which is why i went to the boiler-room during that time. Twas' Indie heaven this year. Good mix for 2007.

I guess it was a great move saying this years was the last BDO I'd be attending.

Such a boring announcement. I'm with you Jawn about Daddy Cool, pity.

This year had a bunch of great bands I love but they were playing at the same time as each other. eg. TLE clashing with Beasts Of Bourbon... argh!!

Kev
10-05-2006, 04:02 PM
Daddy Cool were never going to do it. They were just a rumour made up by a BDO forumer.

The token old band this year is the Violent Femmes. 15 years ago they played the very first BDO.

Another rumour that was made up was Icehouse. But thats doubtful as Iva is busy with scoring films etc.

The best BDO I have been to was when Foo's, Nine Inch Nails, and the rest played it. OSM.

But this years is quite good, except for MCR and a couple of others. But I'll avoid them at all cost.

Agreed. Their stupid new song that gets raped so much now on the airwaves and boxes, is the biggest musical ripoff of Queen and in particular Brian May's little trademark guitar licks and riffs, that i've ever heard.

Don't let Grummsy see that :p

I'd really like to see Bob Evans seeing that his shows here in Adelaide are 18+ but i'm not gonna fork out $120 for him and Eskimo Joe.

Tool.

Haha, as if the price of the tickets would deter you anyway.

Yeah, it better be 18+. I don't have patience for [most] young teens anymore. Immaturity shits me.

I'm so rapt their sideshow doesn't clash with MCR's, I was worried that might happen and I'd miss it when they first announced it.

Rhiannon
11-10-2006, 11:32 AM
I just checked the ticketek site, they have updated it with Trivium info now (here (http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=TRIVIUM07&searchId=13917136-f3d2-4d1d-b683-8cf4a8db49a2)), but still no price. The dates on that site and the site they say to check out for more info (which really has no more info) list different dates to what Trivium, or rather their people, have posted on their site and MySpazz. Spose that doesn't matter so much, it'll say the right date on the ticket anyway.

I rang ticktek to see if I could get a price or at least an approximate one, no luck. The shiela spoke to me like I was stupid when I asked, like she thought my asking for prices was weird. And for the record, their hold music is shit.

ticketek shit me so hard. the ticketek in town here used to be a joint dealie with some organisation that made it come udner the classification of government building.. but they were always smoking in there, and the lady was SUCH a bitch.. they're all gone now and its an internet cafe with some dude there who just sells tickets to shit. its way better now.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! The BIG DAY OUT is almost upon us and we are very excited to announce the third round of touring and local additions to the 2007 summer series!

THE VINES have come a long way since the early days of belting out Nirvana covers at suburban house parties. Their highly anticipated third album, Vision Valley released in 2006 showcases a spectacular return to form. Their debut, Zombies on the Airwaves of Paris and their 2006 self titled album will leave you scrambling for adjectives. Call them strange, beautiful, jagged, swampy, hypnotic, ambient, loud, quiet, manic or whatever you will, but do not miss your chance to see what all the fuss is about at the BIG DAYS OUT. (ALL AUST SHOWS)

(ALL SHOWS)

There are many DJs in New Zealand, but none with the combination of skill and musical knowledge of DJ SIR-VERE. A hip hop pioneer, he's always been at the forefront of the movement, learning tricks of the trade from the likes of Grandmaster Flash. Now master of his art, Sir-Vere will take you on a hip hop journey serving up one hell of a block-rockin’ show for fans at the BDO. (NZ + EC)

BIG DAY OUT also welcomes THAT 1 GUY, (a.k.a Mike Silverman) (USA), a one-man band straight outta your imagination who plays a home made, seven foot tall, metallic Magic Pipe which he claims has a limitless harmonic, sonic and rhythmic range. Be prepared for an infectious and wildly innovative show, twisting up some funky bass-n-drum grooves to get you nodding your head and shifting your weight from one foot to the other at the BDO. (NZ + EC)

FOREIGN HEIGHTS is Australian hip hop to the power of three. For the first time in Oz hip hop history, three of this country’s hottest (and we do mean good looking) and most talented hip hop stars Trey, Maya Jupiter and DJ Nick Toth come together with ten years of hardcore hip hop behind them to produce the freshest beats and rhymes for your soul this summer. FOREIGN HEIGHTS will be running away to join the BIG DAY OUT circus and rocking the crowd along the East Coast. (EC)

In many ways, TZU (pronounced Tee Zed Yoo) are the Bill Murray of Australian hip hop. Funny but serious. Popular but arthouse. TZU stand out from the crowd with their unique instrumentation with Joelistics & Seed MC playing guitars, keyboards and drums, resulting in a mash of hip hop and blues, rock and pop. Renowned for their ultra-hyped live shows, they will surely rock your sweet socks off at the BDO. (EC).

After an initial journey into pop-punk playing guitar in Ben Lee's Noise Addict, MACROMANTICS discovered her true passion in hip hop. Now touted as Australia’s new hip hop royalty, she has built a solid rep for her enthralling, raw live performance which packs plentiful punches of passion and high energy. This girl has a hell of a talent for tongue twisting, tell-all rhymes that traverse through an array of musical and emotional terrain, and has proved herself as a force to be reckoned with. Let yourself be drawn in as MACROMANTICS captivates and enchants at the BDO. (EC)

BIG DAY OUT welcomes special guest, The Prodigy’s KEITH FLINT (Essex UK). Moving on from his previous solo projects “Flint” and “Clever Brains Fryin”, KEITH will be igniting BIG DAY OUT with his psychosomantic antics, teaming up with Heavy G for a set that will feature dancefloor killers aplenty. (EC)

From Japan we welcome DJ GEDO SUPER MEGA BITCH MRS FLINT 4 - little Mrs megabitch from hell! Unconcerned with the trilemma of genre, pitch and style, MEGA BITCH sets her own standards, does her own thing and continues the tradition handed down from Bruce Lee who taught, "Don't think, FEEEEEEEL!" (EC)

He’s the boy from the bush and he’s back in town for the BDO - along with his Alpha Male buddies. Since releasing their 2nd album Drowning In The Fountain Of Youth in August this year, DAN KELLY & THE ALPHA MALES have been hitting the road and taking their rootsy rock’n’roll grunt, dizzy melodies and crafty lyrics to the masses. The BIG DAY OUT welcomes DK & TAM to Sydney and Melbourne to complement your sunny afternoon with their intelligently agile, irreverently mischievous, psychedelic blue-eyed soul. (SYD + MELB)

BIG DAY OUT 2007 welcomes Melbourne’s favourite purveyors of introspective pop, GERSEY. Having taken a break after the release of their second album Storms Dressed as Stars GERSEY return in 2006 with their acclaimed third album No Satellites, showing us the finest sprawling cinematic atmospherics, noodley guitar and keyboard pop this country has to offer. Whether you’re in the mood for a melancholy melody tearing at your heartstrings or an optimistic pop tune, GERSEY will cure what ails you. (SYD + MELB)

Masters of defiant raucous soul rock’n’roll GROUND COMPONENTS are one of Melbourne’s favourite live acts. After releasing 2 EPs since 2002, GROUND COMPONENTS have finally released their much anticipated debut LP An Eye For a Brow and a Tooth For a Pick, a collection of songs that explore the band’s diverse musical influences and multi-instrumental talents. Their performance at BDO will herald the irresistible, simple, sharp songs and rock’n’roll variations on a theme that we’ve come to know and love! (SYD + MELB)
