One of Australia's most popular and best bands, The Living End, has left EMI Records to sign with Brisbane Independent Dew Process.
Dew Process is the label behind Powderfinger, Sarah Blasko, The Grates, The panics and Expatriate.
The Living End had a run of platinum selling albums with EMI in Australia and also made a name for themselves as a popular live act in the United States. Their live shows at The Troubadour in Los Angeles and various shows at SxSW in Austin in 2006 were critically acclaimed.
"We're very excited about our decision and we believe that the family atmosphere of Dew Process is the right home for The Living End" said Chris Cheney of The Living End in a statement "It is such a great pleasure to have the opportunity to make some recordings with The Living End and contribute further to the really amazing career The Living End have had to date. I met Rae and the band whilst frolicking on the Big Day Out in '99 have been a fan ever since. This is massively exciting news for Dew Process, the office is abuzz and we can't wait to get into it," added Paul Piticco, Dew Process General Manager.
The Living End will release the first Dew Process album in 2008.

I wonder what that will mean for the UK? Good on them going to an Indie, I'm sure they try harder.

i doubt it will be released anytime sooner than expected, i reckon TLE would be happer being on all indie labels now that they feel like they can make the records they wanna make.

haha!
the only down side may be that they'll try even harder to make their next album absolute perfection...and not being at a big lable might let them get away with working on it for years, and years and years - until it's just right!
(man, my English sucks tonight)

It should be noted that it was the band's decision to leave EMI. Not the other way around

Yeah so they have no one else to blame . . .
Unless you had something to do with it

I think good on them. If it was their decision, then obviously they felt it was necessary or that they wanted a change and hopefully, it'll all be for the best :) :) :)

TRUE!
I believe TLE,they know better.anyway, they left old label = we should wait for changes! that's always great.

this was in the mail out as well:
This deal also includes the UK, Europe and New Zealand and we are very passionate about increasing the band’s profile in these territories.
I've sent them an email over to let them know that if they need anything doing in the uk there's a few people knocking about on here who would be more than happy to help out.

Yes I read that bit too and was wondering if the new label will be releasing stuff themselves.

I read in the paper today that apparently part of the reason they moved was because a long time friend of theirs (Graham Norton? Am I imagining that name) moved to Dew recently from EMI ... not sure how legit that is, it *was* in The Daily Telegraph .... :p

I think this is great news. Major labels force bands to keep getting in the studio to make hits, witch in return leave behind tons of b-sides witch the guys have hundreds laying around as scot said to my question on the online chat interview with the guys back when. Less pressure and no marketing schemes probally means the guys can finally just play the music they want with no strings attached and can go into the studio with less pressure of a suit waiting in the dust, waiting to tell them they need that hit. I really think the next album going to be something not one of us fans can imagine because with more freedom means getting a band at 100% and i can't wait to hear what the guys put out. I hope we do get some early tracks like we did with long live the weekend demos and living underground, I will cross my fingers and if the longnecks do play someone please bring a dam video camera.
(yes my english also sucks tonight)

I was thinking that since they played some shows with dropkick murphys that they might have got some input also from them and there deal.
