Hey you guys,
Hope everybody is well and enjoying the festive season, thought I'd just give a quick update. Thanks to all who came and rocked along at the EG gig in Melbourne last weekend. It was great to see some familiar faces in the room. It was a really cool line up and I had a ball - so I'm told!!
Yes, it was a little rough around the edges and there was a fair amount of bum notes on my behalf. Sorry, but I think I just enjoyed a few too many before the show - these things happen. It actually felt quite odd playing some of our regular set because as you know we have been off the road for some time and only working on new material. Not being in tour mode for a few months meant having to clear away some of the cobwebs and back track a bit.
Anyway the new stuff is coming together a treat and we are so keen for everyone to hear what we've been doing. It would have been nice to play a few more the other night but we don't want the entire new album to be online just yet. The two that we did play ("How Do We Know?" and "Raise the Alarm"....working titles) are still in early stages and only about a week old. As you can imagine we are still wrestling with them a bit - by that I mean trying to remember lyrics! We've done a couple of lots of demos and put down about a dozen or so tunes. Trust me the online (pissed) versions don't come close to what they should / will sound like. There is some variety on there but in a good way. Most of it is pretty ballsy and not too fancy. Rule 1..... It must translate live.
The break that we had at start of year was definitely beneficial to the band and the writing. It was a chance to sit back and get some perspective on where we want to go and what we want to achieve with this album. We have no doubt that it will be better in every way than the last. I don't think we've ever been this excited about new songs before. Anyway, blah blah blah amen.
We are at present enjoying beautiful Melbourne, and going to continue to write and demo right through the New Year. All is great with (new Aussie label) Dew Process and we can't wait to get the record done and get back on the road. May you all have a Merry Christmas and an apple in your ear.
Peace be with you, let there be rain and let there be rock. God knows we need both.
Chris.
