Okay.
So I'm half deaf from too many gigs without plugs, and am struggling with shitty recordings to make out lyrics, but I knooow some of you out there have better sounding recordings, AND I know that some of you are freaks and can remember lyrics after only hearing them once or twice (unlike moi!)

So maybe we can put together our collective ears and figure out the lyrics as they are thus far (remember, they're still be worked on, so they may change), and that way we'll all be able to sing along a bit better at shows before the album gets recorded!!!

I forget where the link is (someone help me out here) but there was a link to both Raise the Alarm and How Do We Know recorded at the EG Awards somewhere on the forum.
And they've been there for months now.

Those two are (relatively) easy to figure out cos the recording is at least somewhat decent.

The other songs are quite frankly painful with the versions I have and all the static that goes with them, but I'm sure others have better versions somewhere and I'm hoping they can help decipher the lyrics.

Just trust me when I say that the wait for these songs once the boys have finished with them will MORE than be worth it! :)

To the best of my knowledge they havent locked in a producer yet, so I wouldnt bank on it being ready for release until sep/oct earliest.

Because of the paranoid, dangerous, increasingly fuhrer-esque police state activities going on all over the world right now (wiretapping, illegitimate incarcerations, fear of free speech) as a result of the so-called "war on terror" (and a variety of other things), it has almost been what you could call a trend for artists to write tunes that reference previous historical bouts of finger-pointing and paranoiac hysteria to illustrate the despair of it all...as they say, if you don't know your history, you are doomed to repeat it. Common allegories (is that the right word?) for our current situation are things like the witch trials, the red scare, nazi germany, and, perhaps in this case, the bubonic plague. The marking and exclusion of the disease's victims seems like it may coincide with calling someone a non-patriot, an enemy of the state, a terrorist, etc.

MetalWorks is a state of the art studio. A lot of huge artists have recorded there. It's won top studio in Canada 10 years in a row. If they we're to record in North America, MW would be worth considering. Apparently Silverchair mixed their last album there.

I considered it, but I ended up going to Uni instead. My high school had some makeshift studios where I learned how to do basic recording using software and mixers and all that jazz. I recorded a few songs, but most of that stuff I can still do at home. I also took a week long recording course at Queen's University while I was in high school as part of an enrichment program. It was pretty cool, but most of that stuff can be learned on your own. If you're serious about recording as a career though, MW Institute would certainly put you ahead of say, community college students.

All that aside, it would be awesome if TLE did choose MW to record the new album. Maybe Silverchair mentioned it to them while they were here for G'Day Toronto.

Yeah, I better get a job and start studying more to up my marks if I want to try and get into it. I was thinking the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe or trying MetalWorks Institute. The thing that sucks though, is that I had a Communications Technology class this year, and I took it specifically for audio editing and similar stuff, only to find out the teacher DOESN'T have the right equipment. So I didn't last long in it. Kinda hard to build a portfolio when the teacher doesn't have the right stuff. :rolleyes: When my mom decides to buy that Mac she wants, I'll play around with Garage Band and those programs. Yeah, I better get a job and start studying more to up my marks if I want to try and get into it. I was thinking the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe or trying MetalWorks Institute. The thing that sucks though, is that I had a Communications Technology class this year, and I took it specifically for audio editing and similar stuff, only to find out the teacher DOESN'T have the right equipment. So I didn't last long in it. Kinda hard to build a portfolio when the teacher doesn't have the right stuff. :rolleyes: When my mom decides to buy that Mac she wants, I'll play around with Garage Band and those programs. Haha, I won the communications technology award when I was in high school. Fun class, I just listened to music and screwed around on a computer for an hour and fifteen minutes everyday.

I think I have worked out the best way to record live music/loud noises on my camera! :p I need to hold the camera so that I have my finger over the microphone part of the camera. That's the only explanation I can think of as to the few bits of good sounding audio. If you get what I mean! :p
