Hey there! Been a fan for years and just recently joined the forum. I'm sure this subject has been done before but thought I'd give it a shot. TLE has done some great covers in the past but...
What song would you like to see TLE cover?
Heres an obscure number from The Romantics that I bet they could make their own:

apparently they used to cover a couple of Maiden songs in their early days
I know it sounds weird and late but why wouldn't they make a decent cover of 20 flight rock? as Runaway boys they did it really awesome, and Chris' vocals suits well.
Grumma
04-22-2008, 10:22 PM
so the Runaway Boy's didn't do a decent job?
Sarah

I think she means a decently recorded up to date version needs to be done. I'd like to hear that too!
Greendays cover of working class hero was kinda bleh
Ozzy Osbourne's was better.
As for a Beatles song, SGT Peppers would be pretty cool.
Oh and speaking of Ozzy, Paranoid would be an interesting cover. Even NIB

fuck yeah that would be soo cool!
can you just imagine chris singing number of the beast :)
the trooper would suit him better.
or maybe even run to the hills

I could imagine him trying to sing Number Of The Beast.
Run To The Hills was one of the songs they apparently played (along with Rime Of The Ancient Mariner and Phantom Of The Opera)

one band i hate is iron maiden... like seriously... singing about castles and dragons n shit... come on!
Just as bad as adults that read harry potter books. There was an awesome call about it on american dad the other night I think it was.... 'oh its like those childrens books that adults read to try make up for their lack of excitement in their lifes' or something like that..... anyway. Nah, never been into maiden. Please never do a maiden song TLE..

Heaps of bands (especially metal - though I know nothing about it) sing about 'dragons and shit'
And while I don't listen to them, TLE already did cover songs by Maiden (forgot which ones) but Chris said so in an interview.
Haha.

I reckon it'ld be awesome if they did a Rammstein cover :p

They already have.
And there isn't a Maiden song that I've heard that mentions castles or dragons.
90% of their lyrics are historically based

Chris has the disadvantage of not being anywhere near as manly (in stature and body bulk) has Lindeman. The guy is huge!

I thought the riff in Rats sounded distinctly iron maiden-ish. Fuck it, I'd go as far as to say that the solo in til the end sounds like maiden meets vai. Like it or not Mick, Iron Maiden influence them. Besides- what about your rule: if Chris likes it/ has it: so do you.
WHITE FALCON
04-24-2008, 01:04 AM
chris said it was early iron maiden influenced didnt he?
or one of them
hahaha giles good call as well ;)
A Pink Floyd cover would be nice.

I'd really enjoy a cover of Get back or any beatles song for that matter. I think anything TLE covered would sound great:)
Cheers.

Yeah, Beatles covers would rock.

are you Anfony with an F, like from myspace...i don't know where/when i saw the name, but i just stuck in my head probably cos i thought it was really annoying!
And, whilst i'll admit to enjoyed their previous versions of looking out my backdoor, I must say that i'd be very happy if they DON'T cover creedence again! haha. Personally I'd love some more cool eighties pop/rock covers. Adam and the Ants, Billy Idol, Robert Palmer, Cheap Trick, Split Enz, even more Barnesy/Chisel...oh, or more Elvis Costello! Or some more heavier stuff, yes Grumma, like some Maiden, or glam rock even (it's not such a huge step to go from tight white jeans to spandex). Just no more Creedence :p
Anfony
05-04-2008, 09:39 PM
Haha yes Sarah I am Anfony with an F from myspace :)
Another song I thought would make an awesome TLE cover is Rush by big audio dynamite.

I'd like to hear them do something really heavy like slipknot or something just to see if they'll make it sound alright and to see how well Chris screams.
Colezy
05-06-2008, 10:49 PM
I reckon he'd sound girly if he screamed to hard :p
Grumma
05-06-2008, 10:52 PM
yeah same
Chris's voice and anything heavy wouldn't work
Craigels

hahaha yeah. It's pretty hard to do and you can screw your voice up if you do it wrong which would be VERY bad for him.
Grumma
05-06-2008, 11:06 PM
Not even that.
His voice is too la la happy for stuff like Metallica

I can imagine them doing Johnny B Goode for some reason...
Grumma
05-08-2008, 10:11 PM
The Stray Cats did it
Jonnno
05-08-2008, 10:14 PM
Yeah, I can't imagine TLE doing a chuck berry cover at all for some reason. They're more suited to 80's rock n roll revival tunes I think.
How bout a radiohead cover o_O
Grumma
05-08-2008, 10:22 PM
or Motorhead.
It's the ace of spades! the ace of spades!
Actually, Scott would probably be better off singing that than Chris
Jonnno
05-08-2008, 10:24 PM
For sure, for sure. A motorhead cover would be badass, dont see them doing it though.
Grumma
05-08-2008, 10:39 PM
Me either.
Their image is too "clean" to cover anything 80s :p
The Dying Start
05-09-2008, 07:34 PM
Like Girls On Film, and Tainted Love or any 80's songs like that?
Grumma
05-09-2008, 09:13 PM
Doesn't mean they did a good job
Doesn't mean they did a good job
If you don't think that tainted love is a fucken epic cover then you should be immediately and permanently banned from this forum.
srsly.

05-10-2008, 11:18 AM
pretty sure its on a single
The Dying Start
05-10-2008, 01:12 PM
Did it end up on a single? I can't remember. I know it was originally released on a Duran Duran tribute album.
Colezy
05-10-2008, 01:36 PM
Yup, it's only one the tribute album.
Girls Talk, however, was on a single.
The Dying Start
05-10-2008, 01:44 PM
It sure was. That's a great cover too. Another great 1980's cover!!!
Sarah
05-10-2008, 01:56 PM
Yep, all great covers, especially Girls on Film - it just sounds, well, can't think of a word, but good!
Jonnno
05-10-2008, 01:58 PM
Fantastic, where do I get one?
