New Songs!!!!

So Chris and Scott are still in Atlanta mixing, but How Do We Know has been mastered (the final stage). It's not the first single, but the band were anxious to get something to us ASAP so word is that Triple J will be getting the song on Thursday morning. Even better, it's going to be available as a download on the J's site for a week.

Just after that, we'll have delivery of the first single. Confusingly, the first single is ALSO called White Noise. It wasn't planned (the album was called White Noise before we heard the final mix of the song) but the song White Noise blew everyone away so much that it became first single.

Does that make sense? I'm confused myself!

Modern Artillery is the only album that doesnt have a song of the same name somewhere by the boys. And we've managed to figure out the others ;)

I think that would sound too trebly for a studio recording. Listen to the foxboro hottubs album to see what that would sound like.... I think it sounds epic. I think there is plenty of Gretschy goodness in there. As far as we know they may not have gone with the SG for the main riff.

BTW, the dynamics of this song are fantastic. They make those big open chords really jump out of the speakers. Plus Rae was right about a closer live sound, especially the drums, the snare has that wet open kind of live sound rather than that over-compressed studio sound...

yeah, the drums are as big and epic as they need to be. I'm not sure about the live sound thing- I think it could apply to other songs more perhaps. It certainly sounds close to what we heard at the EG awards- but the strings and stuff kinda change that.
I love the changes in panning for the solo... and you're right, those chords that jump out the speakers in the way that only such a stecatto rhythm can... it's brilliant.
