Alright well where to begin then?
For a start, its awesome to be back on home turf.
What was supposed to a four week recording trip turned into an eight week recording/mixing adventure. It may have taken a little bit longer but it was well worth it. Dont worry its still coming out on july 19 rain, hail or shine.....
Despite working from stupid o'clock to ridiculous o'clock for the better part of 6 weeks, we had a blast making this record. I'll admit that there was some trepidation getting on the plane as to whether Agnello would be one of those weirdo, hard to get along with, I'm the king of the universe type producers. Would Hoboken New Jersey have anywhere to get a decent coffee? Would Andy cope if he couldnt get his hands on a real deal latte to go with his morning lungbuster? Would Scott follow him off the cliff of despair? Let's face it, the majority of Americans arent renowned for their coffee making skills. They do make great guitars though so its all good.
Well I'm pleased to tell you that John Agnello was bloody tops! Bit of a nutter but in a good way! He was very supportive of any ideas we had and wasnt afraid of a bit of hard work. He would gladly entertain any last minute ideas we had: "hey check it out, I've written a new intro", "I think I need to re-sing that song.....AGAIN" , "can we get the sound of three tap dancing elephants and a zebra playing scrabble during the middle 8 of this song" etc etc. To his credit, nothing was too much trouble. He even brought in to the studio his coffee espresso machine! Never used it he said. It lasted a couple of weeks before the 3 aussie coffee nazis blew it up!
We got some string sections on a couple of songs which I think is a first for us.
We were also very lucky to have Franz from the hold steady add some rockin piano to a couple of tracks. He just has a particular style of playing that blended so well with us. As usual we finished just in the nick of time. The studio assistant was still copying the master tapes as the cab waited to take scott and I to the airport.
cutting it close indeed!
We figured we had come this far that we might as well stay on and go to the mixing in Atlanta. At the mixing helm straight from finishing the new AC/DC record was Brendan O'Brien. He just took the songs to a whole new level. Ten days later and we were on our way home new record complete.
Next.........artwork
Then..........video
Then.........release record number 5
Then tour our arses off, Spain here we come!!
But first stop is AC/DC lane, Come Together then Splendour.

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the two new radio songs, theres plenty more where those came from! To you guys who keep coming to the shows and contributing to the website, your continued support is fricken awesome and hugely appreciated. We couldnt be happier with the way the new record is shaping up.
the good folks at Dew Process are doing a smashing job!
Anyway loads more to say but cant be arsed right now.
Until next time peace
