Well!
Said gig was last night and my god, it was brilliant!

This is my story:

Spent the whole day going off my nut, wanting to BE there already - I spent the day in town with mates, hoping to see them (someone had said they'd seen them there the day before) but to no avail. Did see the EOF guy though but chose not to talk to him - Karli, who used to be on here, did and apparently made a fool of herself!

Got there just after 8 - doors opened at 8:30 so I would have liked to be there earlier but my mum and brothers were going too and didn't really care what time we got there.
Waited in line *forever* and finally got to the top then had to wait more while they sorted out the guest list/gold pass - conversation as follows:
Me: My name's Caitlin Williams, I'm on the guest list for the Gold Pass doover.
Guy: What?
Me: *repeat*
Guy: Oh, the Hot FM thing? (local radio station)
Me: No something different altogether *spots it on sheet* there, that's it.
Guy: Nah that's not you.
Me: Ahhh yeah it is.
Guy: It can't be! That's not you.
Me: Seriously, that's me. I've got an email to prove it! *pulls out printed email*
Guy: Oh... Oh okay. Well, alright then.

Got my merch - stripey shirt and hoodie for me, Radio shirt for my mate - and spoke to who I *think* was Jamie_TLE - not sure though. Finally got in, went to find myself a spot, did a loop and bumped into my mate from school who wasn't planning to go but decided to at the last minute after his mum contributed money, ended up having to buy tickets off someone walking around trying to sell hers because it SOLD OUT (dances) so we plotted how to get to the spot I wanted. Ended up barging people out of the way - I'm little, they have to be nice!
Got a good spot, first level up from the mosh (it's hard to explain) and one row behind the barrier thing dividing the levels, but I could see, so I was happy.
Took some shots of EOF - two only, I don't like them much - bummed around, talked to my mate.
Finally, after much anticipation, Rockstart Matty & Co appeared onstage and the crowd went wild then realised their mistake - that was amusing :p They stuffed around for awhile, setting up. Quite amusing at one stage when the drum techie was testing the drums, Rockstar Matty had the White Falcon and Scott's bass was in the care of the bass techie - would have been the perfect moment for them to say "Oh sorry guys, TLE aren't playing tonight but instead you get us!"
Finally, THEY ARRIVED!

Setlist as follows:
Til the End
Roll On
We Want More
Who's Gonna Save Us
What's On Your Radio
Into the Red
All Torn Down
Uncle Harry
Nothing Lasts Forever
Second Solution
E-Boogie
Long Live the Weekend
Prisoner of Society
Wake Up
Tainted Love
---------
West End Riot

(I wrote the setlist on my poster in my bag as the show progressed! Stupid? Yes!)

We Want More - sent goosebumps along my spine, hearing the crowd roaring it - it was amazing! Everyone was so hyped up!
Into the Red - Chris is like "This song is dedicated to PJ O'Briens (local pub) and the like - Dropkick Murphys! (I was the only one who knew the band, screamed my lungs out haha!)" and off he went - fucking brilliant!
All Torn Down - I'll say, without a doubt, the best version I've ever heard. Beats even Cold Live at the Chapel - the intro was seriously close to three or four minutes long, and the song was just ... amazing. The crowd singing "You've got no reason" was just awesome! I told Andy after that he is now officially better than Trav, at least in that regard :p
Uncle Harry was a laugh - I think I would have been one of the only few who, at first, knew the lyrics but by the end, the whole room had the gist of it and off we went!
Second Solution - sounded great. The girls in front of me were hilarious, between EOF and TLE, one of them was like "Do they sing SS or is that Green Day?" I couldn't help but laugh!
E-Boogie was fantastic! The beer bottle solo was non existent - he sculled a bit, as usual, but the crowd starting chanting him to scull and he finished the bottle!!! At the end, he's like "How can I resist when I've got a room full of people cheering me on?" Chris introduced the band, Scotty STAGEDIVED!! I grabbed his hand - little teeny bopper that I am!
Prisoner went off, as you could imagine - sounded brilliant though!
West End Riot, the closer, sounded amazing - great way to finish the show!

I ended up making friends with the girls in front - they let me forward to take photos and I just mucked around with them - they were great!
At one point, Chris and Andy almost had a heart attack when they realised the bar tender from PJ's (read above) was in the audience - grabbed him out on stage and said "This is the best bar tender in the world!"

Afterwards, met up with Joel and family (his mum is a supervisor at work) and hung around while the crowd dispersed. Bouncers tried to kick us out but I explained we had permission to go backstage, so with a disgruntled expression, he made us stand somewhere else.
Joel and I got taken backstage, where Chris was hanging around by himself, looking pretty sad! First words from me were "Do you remember me? Gilligans last year?"
Chris: "you're soundcheck girl!!"
(I went to their soundcheck last time they played in Cairns, it was an O18's gig so I couldn't go but we met them before the gig anyway)
Had a chat with him, I introduced him to Joel who was looking pretty awestruck - barely said a word, cute little kid!
I told him about the thread May made (Talking to the Guys) and said how people were scared of talking to him and he's like "What?! Why?!?!" - I don't think he quite realised how scary he is :p
Talked to him about a few different things, he's so great!

Andy and Scotty came out, did the same introductions with Joel, they too remembered me as SoundCheck Girl!! That was pretty neat!!
Got stuff signed, took photos, brilliant stuff!
I mentioned how Rae had said they were playing at their peak, and how I agreed, and Chris was like "What?! She never tells us that! Gotta work harder!"
I asked Andy if they'd been in town the day before and he said him and the other roadie dude had been riding around on little scooters - funny imagery I got there!
Chris said during the show that he loved Cairns - top sheilas, beaches are crap for surfing but brilliant to look at! They spent three days here in total - said it was like a holiday!

Overall, it was awesome - never had such a brilliant time. The boys are definitely playing at their peak - I've never heard such an awesome show.
I took *some* photos, some are crap though!

I *think* that's pretty much it - if I think of anything more, I'll post!
To all new members from Cairns (if there are any) welcome!!

(Photos to come)

EDIT: I bought the guys some Cairns badges - "(heart) Cairns, Australia" - I figured they needed something to remind themselves of the place! Plus, the packaging was black and white checks so it was mostly TLE colours. Also got one for Rae as a thank you :D

EDIT 2: Oh! I got cracked onto by some drunk girl - she groped my arse and boobs and tried to take me to the toilet!

His mum is always complaining to me that she's worried people think he's a girl - I very subtley hinted to the boys that Joel was indeed a boy so they didn't make any embarrassing mistakes :p
Still on a high, haha!
Wearing my stripey shirt now *dances*
