Hahaha yeah on the front of The West Australian newspaper today it read 'Beau Waters Ate My Goldfish" hahaha

He was hungry for a late night snack on Sunday night and chowed down Adam Hunters goldfish :D

I'm loving some of the stories post Grand Final day lol Yesterday Embley suddenly came to the realisation his normsmith medal was missing. After freaking out it was discovered that Waters had it in his bag haha

Nah Waters is a gun.

I told dad before the game started that he was the reason West Coast would win and I still hold that opinion now :)

Julian

Cox was the reason West Coast won

Strider
10-05-2006, 12:47 AM
I won't deny that. The Eagles won the premiership simply because they have big Cox.

The Dying Start

I still remember when David Stiff played NBL for Adelaide...we had similar slogans. Particularly against Brisbane who had Willie someone. We had the sign up "You may have a Willie, but we've got the big Stiff"

Oh the hilarity.

Anyway, back to the footy...

KillingInTheNameOf

Yeah but Cox played last year and they didnt win

Nah he's just my Sonny Bill Williams of the AFL :p

No arguing boys!!! The whole team is better, and I think the scoreline makes Sydney appear more glamerous as a team than they really are...Adelaide in my opinion are a much better team than the Swans.

Aker already traded
10:17:24 AM Mon 9 October, 2006
Jason Phelan
Sportal for afl.com.au
The AFL's official trading period started with a bang on Monday with disgruntled Lion Jason Akermanis granted his wish to be traded to the Western Bulldogs.

With trade week set to start at 10:30 on Brisbane football manager Graeme Allan and Bulldogs' recruiting manager Scott Clayton approached AFL officials at 10:14 to notify them of the trade.

"We have agreed on a trade with Jason Akermanis to the Bulldogs - we're still working out the finer details - there will be no player involved in the trade and that's all we're saying at the moment," Allan announced directly after.

"We can't say yet because we're still working out the finer details, so we don't want to say anymore and we'll come back to you later."

Akermanis had nominated the Dogs as his preferred destination in early September after his acrimonious mid-season split with the Lions and the pre-trade week posturing by both clubs had suggested a trade might take some time.

He played 248 games for Brisbane between 1995 and 2006, won the 2001 Brownlow medal, tied for the club's best and fairest award in 1999 and was a four-time All-Australian.

"(We were) two very efficient people battling away for a day or half a day," Clayton said with a smile.

"Everyone's pleased so we just thought we'd get it out of the way, so conjecture stops and we can move on.

"It's important and the club's happy and the coach is happy."
I'd assume this means pick number 2.
Big rumour was that Faulkner, Power and a 2nd round pick for Bradshaw and Aker. It seemed like the perfect deal to me.
This could possibly mean Bradshaw goes to the Cats.

Erik
10-09-2006, 08:19 PM
bradshaw is a champion player, he'd fit in well with geelong. But what about tomahawk? his meant to be geelongs saviour from all the shit years.

rumour has it kerr is up for a trade, if he leaves west coast we can kiss another grand final appearance good bye

Julian
10-09-2006, 08:52 PM
Hahaha Kerr, I really, really doubt that. Have heard nothing about it and I doubt something that big will come out of trade week!

cammo
10-09-2006, 09:07 PM
Yeah I heard that about Kerr on lasts nights news, they said "Daniel Kerr could also be traded in a direct swap with Fremantle for Paul Medhurst"

Strider
10-10-2006, 01:44 AM
if you mean, 'using his foot to play with balls', then I'd agree. but in terms of playing AFL, I sorta doubt that. Although rumour has it Grumma beat the whole Adelaide side in the pre-season. That could very well be true.

The Dying Start

Anyway, trades this year are hell interesting! Spida, Akermanis, Tarrant etc.

Also, I usually get someone to buy me the Essendon showbag from the Melbourne show BUT my friend informed me there was no showbag this year (what the fuckkles?!) and so I actually had to go out and BUY the team poster this year. And yes, it's very beautiful :)

I feel sorry for Bulldogs, they have to put up with McDougall haha

Julian
10-15-2006, 01:18 AM
You WCE supporters are too harsh on McDougall. When he was getting regular games he was getting the best defender on him and he was too young to make a real impact with a quality defender against him. He looked good in his one game this year and should have kicked more than one but they drop him the next week. No wonder he was lacking confidence. He'll turn things around at the Doggies, just you wait

The only loss the dons have is Solomon. He went from a champ at the club to a tradee. What happened there?

Strider
10-15-2006, 01:25 AM
No, the Eagles fans aren't harsh on him. He's just shit. He was lazy, he never chased the ball, he dropped marks, and couldn't kick for shit. I hope for his sake he lifts his game cos if you're gonna be lazy in AFL footy you're not gonna achieve anything.

He has a lot of potential but no commitment (McDougall)

Im glad we didnt end up with Tarrant either. Plus we also have a heap of draft picks in what is supposed to be the best draft since I think 2001, good stuff. (2001 draft had Chris Judd, Luke Hodge, Luke Power, Xavier Clarke, Jimmy Bartel, Nick Dal Santo and a LOT of other big name players)

Essendon has picked up Mal Michael in the draft, following him quitting the Lions I think. And Brisbane are really pissed off and threatening legal action because apparantly he still had one year left on his contract (for season 2007).

Taken from http://www.essendonfc.com.au:

Essendon Football Club today confirmed it had reached agreement on a two-year deal with former Brisbane player Mal Michael and that it would be taking him with its first selection (second overall) in the pre-season draft.

The 29-year-old, three-time Premiership player will commence training with Essendon in mid-December. Michael has played 201 games for Collingwood and Brisbane.

"We believe he has a lot of football still left in him and his move back to Melbourne has caused him to re-think his retirement. We think he can be a very important player for us for at least the next couple of years," Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy said.

"He will provide us with some real strength and experience in defence while we continue to develop some of our younger players for key defensive roles. Physically he is in very good condition and the time away has freshened him up mentally."

I posted this on the last boards but there's a few updates

If AFL clubs were women

Sydney would be J-Lo - Quality all over, but especially good down back.

West Coast would be Kylie Minogue - very decent despite not having much up front.

Fremantle would be Danii Minogue - Always trying hard to be as good as her big sister, but will never measure up. The butt of everyone's jokes.

St Kilda would be Krystal from Big Brother - has the biggest and best assets going around, but we all know they're not the real deal.

Brisbane would be Elle MacPherson - past her glorious best but still easy on the eye and an old favourite with most.

Port Power would be Madonna - also past her glorious best, but refuses to accept it gracefully.

Carlton would be Whitney Houston - has not looked after herself in recent years and has gone completely off the rails.

Adelaide would be Delta Goodrem - tidy, attractive, professional and uncontroversial. Nice to look at, but for some reason just makes you want to yawn.

Geelong would be Britney Spears - at times can look stunning, at others it can get ugly.

Essendon would be Katie Holmes - has a certifiable psycho in charge of her every move. Has lost credibility in recent times.

The Kangaroos would be Paris Hilton - lays down way too easily.

Richmond would be Annabel Chong - can cop a pounding and keep coming back for more, all in the name of self-improvement.

Western Bulldogs would be Shakira - proof that being short is no Barrier to getting you excited. Will only get better too.

Hawthorn would be Christina Aguilera - looks like she enjoys it rough and dirty.

Melbourne would be Princess Di - may be a blue blood, but hasn't done anything for a while.

Collingwood would be Amelie Mauresmo - last woman on Earth scenario: you still wouldn't.

Port better know what they're doing with this Boak kid. The bigfooty Port boards erupted with 'who the fuck is Travis Boak'... Can't believe Selwood slipped to 7. And David Rodan, wtf are we thinking? I can't believe we took him over Ezard. Krakouer seemed a good pick up, i'm glad Essendon took Davey first although I don't think Port need any more of these small aboriginal players.

The Crows got what they wanted. Gill and Sellar. Both have potential to be huge mistakes though. Add three more talls to McGregor, Rutten, Bock, Basset, Maric, Hudson, Meeson and Welsh...

How good did the doggies go in the trade week jason akermanis who despite a mouth is still a quality player and a ready made ruckman in Michael gardiner who is good enough to make anyside in the comp if he stays out of trouble (drink driving and crashing car into 2 parked cars and a light pole can't be good)

Looking forward to 2007 now WCE back to back for mine (doesn't pay too much) round 1 WCE vs SYD should be interesting tradtional slow starter vs reigning premiers (possible hangover and away)

Gardiner will break down within the first month

His knees are shot to bits and he cant ruck at centre bounces

Cox is the best Ruckman for suuuure. Gardiner is reaching his use-by date quickly

I'm already going to the Grand Final next year (cos me and my mates planned it) so it'll be interesting to see which teams pick up the pace next season.

lol if anything Gardiner has already reached it.
But the Doggies got for him for nothing (?) so it was worth the punt

No, ST KILDA traded draft picks to West Coast for him.

Congrats to Leigh Adams and Daniel Hayes bein picked up in the rookie draft by the Kangaroos and Melbourne respectively

Both eastie burb boys (Both went to Lilydale High) and I even had the pleasure of playing agaist Hayes in 2 junior grand finals.

Best of luck to both of them, though to be realistic Hayes aint gonna cut it. He's like Cupido but less talented. Lazy and well known for disappearing from training etc

my mate played at eastern with him and said he was an absolute freak show (hayes that is). but yeah like every one of the aboriginals he just disappears from time to time... out of the blue one day he just effed off to gippsland and eastern had no idea where he was.

And apparently at a team BBQ he got sent to Coles to pick up sausages and hamburgers but ended up comin back with Pies :p

Hmm well Ive played on him and I didnt rate him all that highly. Mind you that was back in U15s/U16s so he could have improved

Hmm yeah though a lot of that couldve been to do with a) he came like 2nd? in the agility test and b) he's aboriginal

Yeah but it takes excellence to make AFL; not just being good

I just realised then that I didn't make it so a single game this year :(

I'm hoping next year is just a tad different... hell, we might even win a game or two this time :p
