So, I can't remember the list of all the people that were going to these shows from the old forum, so lets start another one!

Sarah (H&L)
Michael (H&L)
Nicole (H&L)
...

I think we should all have a meet up prior to the shows, cos that'd be cool :)

Colezy
09-06-2006, 11:43 PM
Yes - a meet up would be good! And Sarah, we still need to plan our little trip a bit more! haha..we're slowly getting there!

Um, adding to the list:

Sarah (H&L)
Michael (H&L)
Nicole (H&L)
Tom (H)
Lowee (L)
Sassy (?) I think it was Sassy!
Benny (H)

Plus there are quite a few people from school going to the Hobart show..some have to watch from upstairs though cause they're not 18 yet, suckers! :p

There were some other forumers..no idea who they were now!

Sarah
09-07-2006, 02:21 AM
Yeah, only 8 days away now!!

I'm gonna burn all my tle albums plus make a couple of b-sides/live cds for the trip up...i don't want some scumbag from Lonny stealing my cds from my car when we're up there.

Is it all sold out now - one of Michaels friends sent an uncomprehendable message that may have said that it is...or maybe it said something different altogether. I hope its sold out, that'd be so cool :D

Colezy
09-07-2006, 02:16 PM
Do you want me to burn any? I don't mind :)
So we're definatley not staying?

Sarah
09-08-2006, 02:12 PM
I don't think so, we're broke as broke can be....doesn't mean we need to leave right away though :)

If you wanted to burn your own happy compilation go for it, i'll have most of them, but more wont hurt!!

7 days :) :)

Colezy
09-09-2006, 05:10 PM
Cool, cool :)
I might make a cd, I might not! :p haha

6 days!!
Ohh and there are some people from my work going too..well, the hobart show anyway. Possibly 2 or 4 from my area and I reckon there are others from other parts of the casino going too.

Sarah
09-09-2006, 06:30 PM
thats cool.

Michael does have the time off work now, so we can cruise up with plenty of time to spare...you're on holidays next week, right??

Colezy
09-09-2006, 06:43 PM
Awesome. Yeah, it's the first day of holidays today, (Mmmm, sleeep!), so that's all good.

Sarah
09-09-2006, 07:10 PM
haha, i only got up at 4 this afternoon. Michaels back in bed after working this morning :P I fear if we had holidays we'd never get up!! I went to the bottleo and the supermarket and the chick at the counter said 'so what have you been up to today'....just laughed and told her. damn we're lazy people!

i left you a message on myspace about friday :)

Colezy
09-09-2006, 07:21 PM
*goes to myspace*

Haha, thats a funny little story!

OH MAN. 6 & 7 DAYS! It's been far too long for us Tassie fans. Hasn't anyone noticed that we're only an hour away by plane? :p

Sarah
09-09-2006, 07:31 PM
yeah, i think that's the problem, its cheaper if WE fly over!

Lowee
09-10-2006, 01:38 AM
You'd think if Lennon can pay $3 million a year for four football games, he'd cough up a little for a few Tle gigs, after all, who needs hospital beds or surgeons?

Sarah
09-10-2006, 01:54 AM
exactly :P

haha, all the bogan mobs are into TLE - doesn't he want to make them happy ???

Sarah
09-10-2006, 01:56 AM
so are we all going to have a meet up before the gig in Lonny???

Colezy
09-10-2006, 02:08 AM
I vote yes :) Anyone else!?

Sarah
09-10-2006, 02:18 AM
well, i vote yes too, but i don't think thats gonna change anything :P

Lowee
09-10-2006, 02:28 AM
I guess I'm up for it, I've gotta go to an interview thing at 12:30 so I've gotta fill in some time. My friend Pud will be up for it too I reckon. If not I'll just leave him sitting in the car.

Colezy
09-10-2006, 02:29 AM
If no one else wants too, then we should just take a few happy snaps and pretend that we met up at each gig! :p or is that a bit sad?

*edit - that wont make much sense now that Lowee posted!

Sarah
09-10-2006, 02:39 AM

haha we'll just take random pics of people in lonny and give them names... :)

Last time in was in Lonny on TLE business some random dude though i was in the band...i hesitated before i set him straight :P

Lowee we should definately all meet up at some point :)

Lowee
09-10-2006, 02:39 AM
I dunno, you could still take them, and then photoshop them a bit, and make it look like 50 or so people turned up.

Anyone know any good meet-up places in Lonnie?

Colezy
09-10-2006, 02:44 AM
The Monkey Park! :p
haha, just kidding! I can't think of anything off of the top of my head..

Sarah
09-10-2006, 02:44 AM
pfft, harvey norman car park :P

um, let me think...maccas??

oh and Nicole, Michael reckons we're gonna be listening to Anthrax on the way up....yeah, right!!!!

Lowee
09-10-2006, 02:47 AM
Nothing wrong with the Harvey Norman carpark, I'll bring the Chisel, you bring the beanies and we'll fit right in.

(No offense meant to Cold Chisel, I'm a fan)

Sarah
09-10-2006, 02:52 AM
just listen out for Keh Sahn (?) pumping from the crap-woo

haha, thats like the only place i can always find in Lonny!!! somehow when i'm drunk i can always make it to the saloon though...but don't ask me where it is when i'm sober cos i have no idea!!! maybe i should head out to the saloon now...

Colezy
09-10-2006, 02:55 AM
haha Anthrax..no :p

Maccas would also = food, so that's probably a good idea, depending on what time we meet.

Colezy
09-10-2006, 02:56 AM
Sarah, how many drinks have you had tonight? :p

Lowee
09-10-2006, 02:57 AM
Haha!

Do the bogan in Lonnie actually hang out at the Harvey Norman carpark? It mightn't be suburban enough for them. All the burnie bogans used to sit outside Kmart, but then they removed the benches so they've disappeared somewhere else. These were bad bogans too, the type that piss all over the sidewalk, when there's a perfectly good gutter only a metre away.

Sarah
09-10-2006, 02:59 AM
Sarah, how many drinks have you had tonight? :p

um, not enough....i'm out now....and i've enve drunk the crappy 'pulse' shit

Lowee
09-10-2006, 03:00 AM
I don't eat macca's as a rule, but I'm happy enough to meet there. We could always meet somewhere near the gig, save changing parking spaces, etc.

Colezy
09-10-2006, 03:00 AM
I once had a bogan at the airport tell me that she was "gonna knife me". God it was hilarious!

haha, i dont' know about lonny, but i remember the bogans at kmart in burnie!!

i was in burnie a couple of weeks ago and i was very impress by the new siroccos and by target being upgraded from a shabby little target country to taking over the old harvey norman store - oh there's harvey norman again, it must be a sign!!!!

Lowee
09-10-2006, 03:05 AM
Haha, I can't say I've ever been threatened with being 'knifed'. I probably shouldn't bag bogans so much, I'm probably one myself maybe, I guess it depends on your definition. I have no fashion sense, and don't try to, I like Chisel, I like boags, but then again I can count past 7 so that might rule me out.

Lowee

Thats what I have to do, go and have a look at the new target. I haven't checked out sirroccos either, but I'm not much of a clubber. I've been to the new harvey norman though, sadly it's not much different, just more of the same things.

Sarah
09-10-2006, 03:11 AM
Michael said if you don't wanto to listen to Anthrax there is L7 (??????) to listen to....that's what he thinks!!!!

um, bogans threatend to kill us and (although i dont' know how if we were already murdered by them) get us kicked out our flat....but that was in Norky, so we should be safe in Lonny :P

Colezy
09-10-2006, 03:14 AM
haha, yeah, i guess if you can survive good ol' Norky, then lonnie will be fine!

Can't say i've ever heard of L7

Lowee
09-10-2006, 03:15 AM
Perhaps the kicking was literal?

Sarah
09-10-2006, 03:18 AM

Lowee
09-10-2006, 03:52 AM
It's sure been a long time coming.

Good to see us Tasmanian's are night owls, or, rather, early morning owls. We'll have those mainlanders thinking we're in a different timezone.

Colezy
09-10-2006, 04:01 AM
Well they already think that we're not a part of Australia, so it's not much difference! :p

Lowee
09-10-2006, 04:08 AM
Good point! There was a great clip on CNNNN where they had yanks pick where the US should invade next on mock up maps, there was a great one with the mainland as North Korea, and Tassie as South Korea. Sure fooled those Americans. Not that I'm saying Americans are bad at geography, I'm sure Aussies are on a par.

Colezy
09-11-2006, 06:26 PM
Ah, we share the same theory, Sarah! I like it that way..keeps things simple as I seem to have a small brain like you do! :p

I had a dream last night. It involved the lonnie show and meeting chris. Was very weird!

Sarah
09-12-2006, 12:30 PM

Lowee
09-14-2006, 03:03 AM
Errm, about 12ish, I've got an interview thing at the uni at 12:30, so I'll be free and bored about 1:30 onwards...

Sarah
09-14-2006, 03:12 AM

Colezy
09-14-2006, 02:15 PM
Yeah, if we're leaving here at 11.30..we'd be in Launnie by 1.30 - 2.00, depending on if we stop anywhere on the way.

Oh and Lowee, Sarah messaged me this morning to say that her computer crashed, so its up to you and me to decide where/when to meet.

Our plan so far was to get there, grab lunch, maybe have a look around and get to Albert Hall at around 4.30-5.00..i think! Ummm, maybe if I Pm you my mobile number, you can message me when you get to Albert or when you think you'll be getting there and we can go from there?

What a great gig! I know that generally goes without saying for Tle, but it was my first gig and I had very very high expectations, and even those were surpassed. I certainly got quite a squashing, theres a red stripe where the rail pushed into my front.

I got a few photos, but hopefully Nicole or Sarah did better than me, my photos are quite average. Theres a girl I know of who was there who takes magnificent photos, so they'll be great to see.

Very very approximate Setlist (orders no doubt wrong, but I think the songs are right):

'Til The End
Into The Red
What's On Your Radio
Who's Gonna Save Us
Roll On
We Want More
All Torn Down
End Of The World
Long Live The Weekend
Second Solution
From Here On In, The Living End, Hellbound, Strange - Medley
E-Boogie
Nothing Lasts Forever
Prisoner Of Society

--Encore--
Uncle Harry
Wake Up
West End Riot

Thanks Lowee. Sounds like you had a great night!

Colezy
09-16-2006, 02:43 PM
Ok, here goes! Be warned, if you read it all you will have to read through my crap about the first half of the day before the concert part! :p

The day started out really nice and sunny which made me happy! I could tell it was going to bea great day!!
11.35 saw Sarah and Michael arrive at my place with TLE already playing through the speakers. After a stop at the Maccas drive-thru for some breakfast we began our two and a bit hour journey to Launceston. Along the way we were either tailgated by a commodore or slowed down to about 80 km/hr by a truck, whose driver thought it would be cool to drive in the middle of the road so that we had no chance of passing!
We finally arrived in Launnie just after two and by this stage we really needed some more food! We found food then decided to go computer shopping for Sarah and Michael (their's crashed the other night).
On our way to Harvey Norman, we were half way across the road when Sarah says "Oh, look who it is!" Right there in front of us were Chris and Andy (Andy smoking like a chimney!). We all said a quick hello and continued walking so that none of us were accidently killed by the cars turning the corner! I have no idea where Scott was.

After walking to most places where a computer could be sold, we eventually drove to K-Mart and then to Office works where we found what we were after!!
By now we still had several hours to kill so we went and bought some petrol, a newspaper and more food and made our way to the Albert Hall. There were a few people already there but it was getting cold, so being the intelligent people that we are, we stayed in the car with the heater on! :D
Eventually we ventured outside into the coldness as more people were starting to line up. After about 10 mins of waiting, I came to the conclusion that Sarah and I were the only females with TLE shirts on. There were a few guys with them on.. but yeah, not many people! By 7.30-ish we were let in the doors. I got through fine, but Sarah had trouble trying to explain to the security woman what "on the door meant". I made my way to the front and gained an excellent barrier position which I didn't leave for the entire night!
I was right infront of Chris, but because it was a small-ish stage, I could see Scotty and Andy really well too.

The first support act, local Tassie band, The Reactions were pretty good. I hadn't heard them live before but they had my head bopping along to a few tracks.
End Of Fashion were ok too. At least they seemed slightly into it, unlike what I've heard about their shows in other states. I surprised myself with how many of their songs I actaully knew some of the words too and because most people around me were going mental already, I decided to join in at the parts which I knew.

After what seemed forever, TLE came on and I could have cried, but didn't! The crowd screamed/yelled/cheered/went fucking mental as the boys came on and opened up with 'Til The End. From here on in (pun only half intended!) the gig was awesome, maybe even better than when I saw them in Melby back in may.
Scotty continuously pumped up the crowd as Chris played various solos and Andy did a great job from behind the drums. After the e-boogie beer drinking, I got spat on by Chris. It was a tad gross as I soon realised that I had Cheney spit in my eyes  :p
Throughout most of the night I had a random, but slightly hot, guy with his hand under my top and on my stomach. Of all the people around us, he had to choose me to hold onto. Chris did a good job of bagging out Tassie at one stage, as all Victorians do! All I remember is that it was something to do with the VB he was drinking!

I could go all girly on you here and talk about how there was eye contact made between myself and Chris and Andy at different stages of the night, but I wont say more than I just have!
After the show, Michael, Sarah and I went and bought some merch (a t-shirt and hoodie for me) and then waited outside for the guys to come out, but they had either already gone or went out somewhere else. In total, I think we waited close to 2 hours waiting in the freezing cold while the roadies loaded up the truck ready to go to Hobart, and we still didn't get to see them. A few people (security, various roadies) walked past us and all three of us started to get the impression that TLE had already left cause they were giving us these looks that clearly said "Don't bother waiting much longer - they're gone". Despite that we still hung around.
Over all, it was a great show and I am so so so pumped for tonights show. I really didn't want last nights to end!

On our way back, we were stopped at an accident scene where a Woolworths semi trailer and another vehicle had collided and the road was to be shut for the next 3-4 hours. This meant we had to backtrack a kilometer or so to find a dirt road to take us way out and around the main highway. This plus all of the fog that was around at 2am made it a slow trip home. It was close to 5am by the time we got home, but fuck that, it was so worth it!!

I have no idea if this all makes sense and I'm not going to bother checking it, you'll get the idea of what I'm saying, I'm sure!
Photos are being uploaded as I type. I got a full video of the EP Medley, but its 101MB! I also got part of E-boogie, ATD, WOYR and SS.
Michael got some great pics and HEAPS of video footage, but that wont be up until they get their new computer up and going.

Lowee - the set list looks pretty right from what I can remember! I wish that Hold Up was in there too..maybe tonight!! Sorry that we forgot to message you and meet up! Well, I did remember, but it was waaay to late to even think about messaging you!

Colezy
09-16-2006, 02:44 PM

Don't get up early if I'm the only person who wants it. Knowing me I'll forget to look for it (too busy with Uni and work crap), but if others want it too then go ahead with it.

Hehe, not to worry, I half messaged you, then the doors opened so I didn't end up finishing it. I'm suprised I didn't see you, I was dead centre on the barrier, so I guess you must have been maybe 3 or 4 people to my left, damn, just out of view.

I'm 99% sure I saw next to Sarah in the crowd on the way out, I went to say hi, but I realised I had no voice, and my friend called out to me so I didn't end up introducing myself.

Hmm, where abouts were you in the queue up outside the gig? I was one of the dickheads freezing my arse off up near the front, sounds like you used your brain more than I did!

Anyhow, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! I hope Hobarts just as good!

Good lord, I hope you weren't the guy with his hand up my top!! :p haha
I tried looking at your myspace for more photos of you but the pics page doesn't load.

Ah yeah, Sarah and I stood around for a little while after it..too bad you had no voice!!

Anyway, some of my better looking pics are up here (http://www.thelivingend.com/vBforum/showthread.php?t=3&page=41) :)

Photos are being uploaded as I type. I got a full video of the EP Medley, but its 101MB! I also got part of E-boogie, ATD, WOYR and SS.
Michael got some great pics and HEAPS of video footage, but that wont be up until they get their new computer up and going.

Woohoo!!!!!

Yup!!
I posted this in another thread just a second ago!

I hate that the bruising from last night is starting to show. The barrier was right under my boobs (cause I'm a short arse) and so whenever there was a big push from everyone behind me, I got squished and couldn't breath..it was almost like being winded The back of my upper arms are also a bit sore from when I had my arms dangling over the barrier. It was so worth it all though!

It felt like everyone around me was 8ft tall!! But it was ok in the end :)

At the end when Andy's drumsticks were being thrown to the crowd, I caught one but the dude behind me snatched it out of my hands :(

Lowee
09-16-2006, 04:55 PM
Hehe, I must be around the same height as you, the top of my stomach area hurts like hell today! I don't think I have an visible bruising though. When I had a shower last night I noticed the barrier had left a mark, but that's cleared up.

That sucks about the drumstick, I actually thought to myself that if I actually got one the tall bastard beside me would snatch it. Same with the setlists, I saw three hands grab one handed to a guy, I don't know if it made it into anyones pocket in one piece.

Colezy
09-16-2006, 05:03 PM
haha, yeah I saw the set lists being handed out too and some of Chris's guitar picks. Before TLE started, I was really tempted to ask the security guy near me to see if he could save me a setlist abut then I forgot about it! I might ask tonight.

Good Plan!

Not to upstage your impromptu molestation, I just remembered when I first up the front, before any gig had started and there was a comfortably full front row, some girl kept rubbing herself against me weirdly trying to get me to give her a spot, and halfway though the show I felt someones hand go into my back pocket, that was a little disturbing, luckily my wallet was in my side pocket.

Colezy
09-16-2006, 05:59 PM
Eh. That sucks when people do that!
I had my ID, bank card, $10 and the After Party ticket in my pocket but they all fell out. I found at the end though..well all of it except the money cause I forgot that it was in there so I didn't look for it.

Lowee
09-16-2006, 06:08 PM
I think my wallet was more or less cash free, but there were plently of cards and my car keys for them to nick. I think what would really suck about having a wallet stolen is having to cancel and get cards re-issued, it'd be a real pain in the arse.

I'lll do a full sum up after tonight...

Yay, i'm completely fucked. i just had a nap and now i feel even worse!!

oh, but it was all worth it - even the freezing cold we endured for all those hours!

got a new computer today (Nicole, we ended up gettting the expensiver one cos we got a staff discount on top of the price), just trying to download lots of software to get my videos to play...then i'll see how good the sound turned out!

Glad you had a great time at the gig Lowee, they always put on such a great show.

The guys seemed genuinally impressed with the crowds enthusiasm - but i've been telling the bastards for 7 years that everybody loves them down here!!

loved what Chris said about Andy - has more sleeveless shirts than Billy Idol :)

And Scotty wasn't there with Andy and Chris, i thought i might have just missed him too, but Michael didn't see him either. As i said before, i was so proud of myself for playing it cool when they walked past, i was so close to just loosing it, but i took a deep breath and chilled :P And i loved how they were all rugged up and i was walking around in a tee and shorts, haha

Michaels arms were sore from holding the camera up all night, he said he got Mr Sandman, so that's cool.

anyway, i'll leave it at that now...only an hour till we leave for the next gig - i'm gonna be on the barrier tonight, i don't feel like being kicked in the head tonight...

Last nights show was fucking awesome aswell.

All of the teenies/underagers had turned up early but then they got told to go to the side door to be let in, so Sarah, Michael and I got to go to the very front of the line, with only 5 or so people in front of us!

The crowd got a bit stupid at times as alot of people were half pissed before they even got there. Sarah and I got on the barrier again and stayed there the whole night. These chicks that were standing behind me and next to me were so freaking annoying. They hated The Reactions and were onyl there for EOF and because they think that Chris is hot. All they did was scream in my ear!! Bah. It was really funny though, to see their faces when James from the Reactions came up to me for a quick chat.
Chicks: "Are you that dude from the first band?"
James: "yeah, I am".
Chicks "what were you called?"
james: "The reactios"
Chicks "oh".
James: *keeps talking to me and then has to go*
chicks (to me): "fuck, do you know him??"
Me: "yeah, I do, why?"
Chicks: "Oh, I'm sorry, we've been bagging out your friend and his band the whole time..."
Me: "yeah, I heard"

I think Chris may have recognised me from the night before (I had pretty much the same barrier spot both nights). During 'Til The End he looked at me and smiled and gave me a look that said "heeeey, its you again!".

The set list was the same as Launnie, but I think a few songs were switched around, and we didn't get the EP Medley. The encore was Wake Up, Tainted Love and WER. Tainted Love was so, so good.

After the second song (Roll On?) Andy was coughing EXTREMELY hard into a towel. It looked painful..as if he was about to chuck up his insides! But all was good and he was fantastic as usual! Scott was a funny man too. He did this cool little dance during e-boogie and a few other songs. Chris' playing and singing was rocking as per usualy too. I just love how that no matter how tired and sore they are, they still manage to put on a fantastic show and give 110%. I have no idea where they gather all of their energy from to do that night after night. Great stuff! :D

During...umm, a song..haha, i have no idea what song, but some dude managed to get up on stage and make a fool of himself! Heaps of people were pulled out over the barrier and my head got kicked by a good 80% of them.

I got some more photos too, some crappy ones and some ok ones. I tired to take of Chris when he was "pissing" off of the side of the stage, cause he was right infront of me, but my camera was a split second too slow and he had moved away. Oh and far out! Scott is the worst person to take a photo of - he doesn't stand in the one spot for long enough!

My only dissapointment was not meeting the guys. I am so pissed off at mum and dad right now! James from The Reactions (local support band) saw me up the front and inbetween EOF and TLE, he came up to me and said where TLE would be after the show, as he knew that I wanted the chance to say hi to the guys and what not. I passed this on to Sarah after the show and we went to wait for them, but mum and dad cracked the shits with me because I hadn't found my brother yet and they wanted to go home. I rang them and said that I could get a lift with Sarah but noooo, I had to come home NOW. Fucking hell :(

I had a gut feeling that I would finally get the chance to meet them and that I should stay and not go home but I couldn't be arsed putting up with their shit and I was tired and sore from moshing too much!
Anyway, they ended up coming out where I said they would and Sarah got to say hi to them. Lucky thing! :p

A HUGE thanks to Sarah and Michael for the trip to Launnie and back and thanks to Michael for letting me push in at the front of the line with him at the Hobart show while he was waiting for Sarah!

I'll see what I can do with the photos from last nights show and hopefully I'll be able to post some :)
And if I remember anything else from the gig, I'll be sure to post that too.

Sounds like a great show! Eh, don't ya just hate parents (and siblings)? I'm sure you'll get to meet the boys eventually. I saw them standing around the side door in lonnie smoking for about 10 minutes, before they went on the walk where you saw them I think, but I didn't apparoach them. I tend to try and not approach musicians unless I want something autographed, otherwise I just look like a nitwit fanboy.

Colezy
09-17-2006, 04:13 PM
Yeah same. I feel sort of rude just going up to them when all they are doing is minding their own business. I guess I can't complain too much about not meeting them. I saw them and yelled out hi to Andy and Chris when I saw them in may and got the chance to say a very quick hi the other day, but yeah. It's not the same!

Lowee
09-17-2006, 04:26 PM
I dunno, you've paid for an interstate trip to see them after all, surely that entitles you to interrupt when they're minding their own business.:p

I was pissed off I didn't bother bringing a 7" to get signed, I thought about it, but figured there was no way I could comfortably carry one during a gig, and didn't think I'd see them before I was stuck in a line.

So, the big question is, which gig was better, Lonnie or Hobart? :p Gotta keep the old North vs. South rivalry going!

Having only gone to 1, I'm glad it was Lonnie as English Army was top of the list of the songs I wanted to hear.

Colezy
09-18-2006, 02:33 AM
Umm, I don't know really. They were both awesome gigs. I think that Hobart might just win! :p And not because I live there!
The Launnie crowd was better, but Hobart..well I dunno. Maybe its a hometown thing??! Or because I was still on a high from the night before? Not sure. Maybe they can be even!

Lowee
09-18-2006, 02:49 AM

So it started on sunny Friday. Michael and I picked up Nicole (you wouldn't believe the view from her place!), and after a quick stop at Macca's for a healthy choc sundae breckie, we were off to Lonny.

Somehow we managed to survive the drive up! We had quite a few hours to kill so we did a drive-by of the venue, grabed some food and started on the computer hunt.

Along the way we came across two familiar looking lads. Luckily (for them i'm sure) I saw them coming from a little while off, so I had to time take a deep breath and suppress any teenie emotions that the sight of those boys arise. I managed a cool "Hi" as Chris and Andy walked past us. I was very proud of my self control!! I did find it amusing that they were rugged right up and here I was wearing shorts and a tee - maybe they haven't re-aclimatised from the Warped tour or something, cos it was a fucking nice day, even for Tassie!

Anyway, after a lot of searching, someone came up with the great idea of trying Office Works for a computer. Sure enough they had a nice cheap one that suited me perfectly, and the "Hobbie" store had them in stock for me to pick up on Saturday. More on this later!

By this stage we were all bored stupid. I'll take this opportunity to officially appologize to Nicole for having to put up with us for the whole day. We're not the most exciting people sorry!!

So we drove to the venue. There were a few people queing on the steps...but it was getting a bit chilly by then, so we stayed in the car til it was absolutely necessary to get out. I can't remember if it was bordem or a moving que that was the killer in the end!! There was a slightly exciting moment during this boring patch...well not really, but it's something! I really really needed to pee. The public loos were already locked, and as it was getting darker, the bushes were looking more and more promising! Luckily we tried them again, and there was one lone cubicle not locked - it was a life saver!!

After a long wait the doors were finally opened.

Kristen, thank you so very much for the use of your golden pass this weekend, but if i was to be offered it again i would have to decline.
ME: 'i'm on the door list'
DUDE: 'for what?'
ME: (confused that this was a trick question...) 'errr....The Living End show...' (duh)

Eventually they figured it all out, but it cost me a spot a the barrier. Never mind. I still had a blast!!

The Reactions were really good, didn't go much on End of Fashion though. But, TLE blew them all away!!

It was a great setlist. Opening with Til The End, and full of goodies like Into the Red, End of the World, '96 Remix, Uncle Harry and We Want More, it was a lot more than I was expecting for this tour!! I managed to stay up the front (i'm sure making eye contact with Chris and Scotty a couple of times) before the pumped crowd got too much for me. I was swept away in a sea of pumping fist, before landing on my bum and getting kicked in the head. It was heaps of fun, but really wanted to survive the night so i could do it again Saturday...so I accepted defeat and went to a quieter part of the room. It was all okay though, I had room to dance, and because I'm tall i still had a pretty good view.

Everyone was having a ball, the kids upstairs didn't get the old stuff, but they went off for Wake Up. I loved that most people knew all the songs and were really getting into it. Chris' playing was awsome, Andy was a fucking machine and Scott was even more entertaining than i've seen in the past - if that is at all possible!!! And Chris managed to turn the crowd against him at one point, which was amusing! Michael videoed a lot of the show, but the sound turned out pretty shitty...but at least i've got a nice souvenier!!

Anyway, after the show we grabbed some merch, a hoodie, poster and a tee for Michael. It took forever to get out of the venue...apparently they only had one door!

We hung out in the carpark, waiting to meet the guys. It was fucking cold. Really fucking cold. And we waited and waited and waited. After a couple of hours the constant stream of roadies finally stopped, the door was locked and the truck drove away. We'd missed them - bugger.

So disappointed and frozen we drove home. There was a horrible crash blocking the highway, and after travelling the foggy back roads (well, apparently, cos i was asleep most of the way!), we arrived home at 5am.

...

Sarah
09-19-2006, 03:45 AM
12 hours sleep would have been nice, but i had a computer to buy. Remember how i said it was nice and cheap? Well, we got a more expensive one, haha.

After getting it home and setting it up it was time to head out again to City Hall this time. When we got there i was happy to see heaps of kids in line in front of us...they weren't going to be taking my barrier - they were going to be going upstairs!! Nicole and her brother joined us and I loved watching the kids running to the other entrance when they were finally told they were in the wrong line!! So we were pretty much at the front. There were these two chicks right at the front of the new line. They were fucking stupid bitches. They kept talking at people ('are you emo, cos emo is hot', 'we got matching heart tattoos today, see') who really didn't want to have anything to do with them...i was thinking of how many times I could jump on their unprotected feet before they cried.

Anyway, after another wait the doors were opened. I laughed at the security being extra carful reading the dumb cow's ID's.

After last night I was trying to suss out the door list deal before I got in. But it didn't matter how organised I was, because unless i had a ticket in my hand it was just too complicated for the ticket people.

ME: Michael is picking up a ticket he bought on the internet, and i am on the door list, under gold pass, organised by the tour manager.
DUDETTE: No, he's not on the list
MICHAEL: *points to his name on the list* Here I am
DUDETTE: Where *turns a couple of pages, ignoring the pointing finger*
MICHAEL: here.
DUDETTE: oh. *crosses name off list*. what is a gold pass *doesn't actually look for my name on any list*
ME: it just means i'm on the list. it was under gold pass last night, i should be there somewhere
DUDETTE: (after a while), oh here you are. i don't know what a gold pass is though how did you get it

bah, like i wanted to explain that whilst lines of people walk straight past me into the venue. Turned out okay though, i got the barrier - yay! Next to me a few people were talking about how some people got kicked out already (2 mins after i got in), because they tried to run back stage. I knew it must have been those stupid bimbos from the front of the line, and we all had a laugh at how stupid they were - shame i didn't get to break any toes though!!!

It seemed like there were heaps more people there that night. A lot more people (mostly annoying barely 18 year olds that pushed and pushed and pushed and scratched and pushed...) were into End of Fashion, but they still didn't do anything for me. After their set I gave a nod to the dude from the Reactions as he was talking to Nicole, and I endured the painful little people next to me until TLE came on stage.

Friday night went off, but Saturday night was even better. After the first song Chris gave Scott the hugest grin, the energy in the room was amazing!! Pity the sound wasn't...that's City Hall for you, they pump it too loud, and it's really echo-y. Anyhoo, that didn't seem to matter too much to the roaring crowd. The kiddies upstairs (unlike Friday night) were getting into it as if they had been fans since the last time TLE played here, back in '99 - I was really impressed!

The setlist was pretty much the same as Friday, minus the remix, but plus Tainted Love, which is always a good cover to hear. During Uncle Harry Chris didn't flash Andy this time, he went for the crowd instead - I hid behind my camera, too scared to watch, but thankfully he kept his pants up - there's just some things you don't need to see!! Again, they guys played really well, and put on a great show. Chris collapsed in a heap towards the end of the show - half put on , half pure exhaustion i'm sure! The encoure call was massive, and I think the band enjoyed dragging it out a bit longer than the previous night. I tried to give Chris telepathic messages (The Reactions, The Reactions, The Reactions) during the closer, WER - he was asking everyone and ended up running off stage to find out the name of their support, he should have written it on his hand, but at least he went to the effort to find out!! And then, that was it. All over, 7 years of waiting gone.

Nicole had sussed out where the band would be leaving from, and we headed out there to wait again. One good point about City Hall - it had more than one exit!!!

Anyway, after a short while Nicole had to leave and Michael and I prepared for another long night. We watched the roadies and Rockstar Matty load up the truck for over an hour. A few punters came and went, a few drunk idiots hung around for a bit. You could tell they were nearly finished packing up, and I was pretty much ready to leave. I figured I'd missed out again.

Then Michael saw Chris come out - yay!!

We chatted to Andy and Chris for a short while (Scott was off being 'happy' with the roadies). Andy reckognised me from the gig, which was cool. I spent a big chunk of the show trying to get a photo of him that would do his performance justace (unfortunately all my pics turned out very average). Anyway, they were both really nice. I got them to sign my winning street team jacket. Chris asked me about it, and I tried to explain...but he just looked at me with those eyes of his and I couldn't get the words out..."So it's rare?"

ahhh...

They didn't stay out for long, but it was nice of them to hang around in "Hobbie" and chat to us as long as they did :)

I hope they had a great time down here, and hopefully they were impressed enough to make sure they make it to us again on their next tour!!

Thanks again to Nicole, Kristen, Michael (for enduring my moods, and obsessiveness, and the freezing cold), Chris, Scott, Andy, and Rae - You guys are the best!!

What a great review!! I love it!! It sums up the whole TLE weekend just perfectly! :)
Chris and Andy should feel extremely lucky that we didn't end up on top of them in the middle of the street! :p

And yeah, it was great to see how many people knew the words to quite a few songs..with the exception of the medley on fri, but that was to be expected, I guess.
Also - i have to agree with you, in that, Hobart's show seemed to have a lot more people, even though they're nearly the same sized venues.

Oh and you and Michael didn't get boring or anything! None of us were exactly bursting with ideas of what to do!

None of us were exactly bursting with ideas of what to do!

haha, i was more worried i'd talk at Chris to death :P

Great reviews Sarah!

I'm curious about where you were in the line-up? I was intended to come up and make conversation but I didn't manage to spot any of you, but I think I saw you on my way out at the end.

You think you were bored? I reckon I'd have had to at least be on a par. I got so bored I drove to the gorge and walked around for an hour to try and waste some time, I seem to do that everytime I get bored in Lonnie, and it's just as boring every time.

Hahaha! We just walked around to find a place with a cheap but decent computer!
I'm not sure if we thought of the gorge though.

um, when we got in the line we were at the bottom of the stairs. We were both wearing TLE tees.

Were you Billy Idol?

Lowee
09-19-2006, 04:39 AM
Hmm, if you mean was sleeveless, nope, but I did have short sleeves. I'm still amazed I didn't spot ya's, I was at the top of the stairs, so I was just a few metres away!

I think I was the only male I saw wearing a light blue t-shirt, as everyone else had some sort of fashion sense.

Sarah
09-19-2006, 04:44 AM
nah, there was some guy a the top of the stairs with blond hair and big glasses looking down over us commoners at the bottom of the stairs

Colezy
09-19-2006, 04:46 AM
He was scary! He had the same facial expression for the whole time he stood there!

Sarah
09-19-2006, 04:51 AM
yeah, on second thoughts, he was probably more like Spike from Buffy than Billy Idol.

Lowee
09-19-2006, 04:52 AM
Ah, I think I half remember someone fitting that description. I think he was on the other side of the stair to me. I was looking down at all the commoners though.

There was a 40ish woman there seemingly on her own next to me, she really didn't look like the rock gig type, but I guess looks can be decieving. There was a hyperactive kid next to me too (maybe 9 or 10), who kept jumping off the walls on the side of the steps, a real mixed bunch. I heard his mum warning him not to keep his mouth shut about any weird looking people, as he had a tendency to speak his mind, I kept hoping he'd say something rude to someone, but sadly he didn't.

Bah, I bet that she was the one who was holding onto me for her dear life.

Colezy
09-19-2006, 05:00 AM

I have a video of the very last part of WER from Hobart's show up on my myspace..well its waiting to be "processed" so when it is, you can all see it!
It's not much, but it has Chris doing his cool kick in the air from Andy's drums!

Lowee

I'm glad to say I didn't get groped by any older women! However, before the acts came on, when the barrier was just comfortable full with more or less no one behind the front row, this..er...'voluptuous' girl kept rubbing herself against my back and side in an unnerving way, kinda like a cat on a scratching post, trying to whore herself into the front row.

Hmmm, bed, it's tempting me too... I hate going to bed too late, and having to try and get to sleep with all the birds waking up and singing. Sometimes I wish I had a shotgun.
