Gretsch Electromatic

Hey,

Just wondering if a Gretsch Electromatic is a good guitar. I play mostly rockabilly, blues / TLE. I also play alot of punk, rock and a little metal, but i have a Les Paul for that so no worrys. I am just looking for a good hollowbody to get a better rockabilly sound.

Does anybody here own a Electromatic, or played one? If so what are your opinions of them.

i own one, and love it to bits.

since i'm not in a band, i don't need an expensive guitar, this one looks pretty and plays well, though in the end it's how i play not what type of guitar i have.

so what happened with the post office?

well i haven't excactly got a new one yet, but i am planning to.

What happened was the post office told the guy that postage to australia was $50 US. But when he actually went to ship it, the post office said it was $500 US. So the post office made the mistake and the guy gave me my money back :/

that's a bit steep for postage, a courier would have been much cheaper.

maybe that was including the import tax on things over $500

heres a smoking hot tip. buy an electromatic. save a bit more money and get some filtertrons like i did. and now its practically a duo jet except heaver. but sounds awesome.

anyway, from the electromatics i've heard, they have really weak pick ups. they sound very thin and i don't like the tone of them at all. i would definitely save up for some TV Jones pups, but that's another chunk of money to add to the cost of the guitar you're buying...sucks...

Well, i'll get the electromatic with the money i have now. Then start saving to get the TV Jones pups. Kinder sucks but i guess it will be worth it. Have you heard them with the TV Jones? Does it sound good?

i have heard the electromatic with filtertrons, they are essentially the same pickups, sounds just fine.

What do the Electromatic come with? DeArmondes or something right? are they any good?
