hey chainsaw cheney, my first guitar was a black Casino stage series, lets jsut say i havnet played it or even bothered changing the strings on it since i got my second guitar. i dotn know about them in general by myne is....prety shocking. at the time i got it i didnt know any better so it did me fine for a couple of years till i upgraided.
are you a beginner, or have u played acustic or anything b4?
what kind of amp is it?

oh shit true?
i have no idea what type of amp, a cheap shit ass one probably, i gotta play it thru head phones andyway.
Uhm, man its late,/early cant think.
I've been playing for 7 years, so not a beginner lol

Haha. andyway!
If you have been playing for 7 years i would probably save up and invest in something good rather than just wasting some money away on an el cheapo guitar. Still, if you don't want to spend the big bucks then you should spend a little extra and get a Squire Strat. They are made by Fender and are cheap imitations of Fender Strats and they work quite well. As long as you treat it well it will do a pretty good job for a cheaop guitar. I'd reccomend getting that for a few extra dollars than a Casino.

yeh but i dont want a wicked gtar. cos i was gunner cover it in stickers and just make it look really old and hieto said that getting a new fender and doing that would be stupid and i said yeh thats why i asked for an old one and moms only spendin 300 on our chrismukah stuff, so 350 is pushing it. ha

casino make epiphone?
id agree with hillaas, a squier would be alot better then the casino and from rought pricings from my billy hide catalouge they seam 2 range form about $170 to $500, and if u did you ageing affects and stuff tastefuly then i wouldnt see a problem there. fender even try and flogg off pree aged guitars for rediculous prices.

Heres the prices for Squires in the Billy Hyde catalogue that i got the other day:
Bullet Strat - 169
Affinity strat - 299
standard dtrat - 389
satin fat strat - 499
and then you can also get packs which include a 10w amp, strap, lead and picks. They are (off the top of my head) about 350-450.

how have you been playing for 7 years and not know what to avoid and what not to avoid? I don't mean that in a rude sense in any why at all.. just seems a bit strange to me. I would hold on a bit longer for a fender squier if i was you- that or an epiphone. They're the best of an average bunch. Apparently Yamaha pacifica's go really cheap second hand and are worth checking out.

Shite if Casino really do make Epiphones aswell then I don't think i want an Epiphone anymore.
To the dude that was asking (sorry not sure of your name!), I personally wouldn't get either but that's just my opinion.
I've heard alot of bad things about those Squires, and I would advise to go around different guitar shops looking for a decent second hand one and don't be afraid to haggle with them to get a better deal! :)
Good luck with it al!

Squires aren't that bad. As long as you look after them and don;t let them get hit or knocked about much they will be fine. Althought i suggest that you save up and get a good guitar if you have been playing for that long. It's not worth getting a cheapy after 7 years.

ok a few things
casino dont make epiphone, gibson does (its like how fender makes squire)
squire strats are good, but the neck is way to thin, so when you want to hold the note or even do a d chord exc. it mutes the strings. squires are aimed for beginers as a first guitar.
if you want a gibson sound then get an epiphone G400 sg (they are about $700 in red or black, but you can get them for around $500 and they are worth it) or you can do what i did, save up 1000 and pickup a fender strat. i got it as my first guitar and i love it. perfect sound, perfect feel, there great.

ummmm if you cant get 500 bux then i sujest ibanez's grg series, in strat design with the humbucker. just be careful cause you get so much feedback from teh amp

hope this helps and good luck with your guitar;)

I think people are confused...
Epiphone makes a guitar called a Casino, as made famous by people like the beatles before epiphone was purchased by Gibson and bastardised.
http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/electric/epiphone/casino_files/casino.jpg
Epiphones are made in Korea, they are owned by Gibson but not made by gibson per se. At least not in the same sense as gibson guitars that roll out of Memphis & Nashville.

you use it to smash things, i wanna buy a cheapo guitar and smash it at a gig.
chainsaw cheney
10-29-2006, 02:50 PM
well i dont wanna buy a new one and cover it in stickers. thats stupid. and mom said 300 is all shes spending on it. Have you ever seen Bilie Joe's guitar, Blue? Like that, it looks cool and old. So I like that. It'll probably be smashed eventually.

10-29-2006, 03:49 PM
everyones making it sound like there is no such think as a cheap guitar that is alright to play!
my friends guitar was 150 bucks. It is basically shit, but it sounds the way i want it to and its easy to play and is good for me, so yeh.
I dont need an exellent guitar at all.

If that guy still needs a guitar, I can sell you a beautiful made in japan Ibanez for 350buks with massive hardshell roadcase. The thing is a screamer, comes with the locking Floyd Rose tremolo, two single coils and an awesome looking chrome-and-cream humbucker, the guitar looks drop dead gorgeous in jet black with red metallic chips around the edges. I recently bought a Gretsch hollowbody so the Ibanez just sits in its case and doesnt really get play time. As a bit of a side note, its apparently the same type of guitar that Marty McFly uses in one of the Back to the Future movies...

no no no no! The guitar in back to the future is a Gibson ES 345. Funnily enough, that part of the film is set in 1955 but this guitar wasn't released until 1959.

You might be a bit mistaken. There is a bit where Marty is auditioning at the school to have his band play somewhere and he went nuts with the whammy bar only to have him declined. I think that's the guitar Deanis is talking about. I think he was also using a similar guitar when they were in the future and Marty his hand was screwy and can't rock out as hard anymore.
