Hello
Im doing up one of my guitars and was wondering if there is anywhere in Australia, preferably Melbourne where I can find some gretsch parts (knobs, switches, a pickguard etc.)
In particular, I am looking for a pair of Filtertrons. Is there a way I can order these from Fender? and how much cash am I looking at for them? or do I continue my scavenging of 2nd hand music stores like Music Swop Shop and Ebay?
Also, Will Filtertron's fit in Standard Humbucker mounts, or do I need to get some custom bodywork done?
Thanks in advance!
Cam.

instead of attempting to make Filtertrons fit in a humbucker guitar invest in some TV-Jones TV Trons. They're humbucker sized filtertrons.

Yes i have been thinking about that. I didnt realise they were standard sized. They retail for about 300? Do you know who sells them in Aus or do I do get them from the US?

Guitar crazy in sydney orders TVJ's in.
Dunno about Melb.
You can order in gretsch parts from any fender dealer (a guitar shop that sells fender! so its not really hard..). However if I were you i'd just search world ebay and buy parts overseas. (unless they are on aussie ebay which is rare). You'd save a fair bit of cash.

Thanks for the reply. Just checking out US Ebay now and it has alot of good parts.
Out of curiosity, how hard is it to fit a Filtertron in a standard humbucker slot? As they go for about US$67 bucks as opposed to 125 for the TV Jones...

I've just ordered some new TV Jones pickups. I might be thinking of selling the Filtertrons once I install the new ones.

do filterons filter out buzz and all the white noise? or is it the amps that do that.

if you play guitar infront of a crt monitor, that might be the cause of the noise

Plus if you have shitty leads etc.
They're not too bad to be honest. I'm looking forward to playing with the TV Jones ones....
