actually i'm pretty sure it is, i think athletes do it after training or something, spa (hot) then jump into a plunge pool (very cold) :cool:

edit: now that i think about it it'd be similar but you pretty much submerge your whole body for a fairly short amount of time, they said on the tour of the AIS when i went to Canberra, that was a while ago now though

Yeah, it flushes out all of the toxins and crap like lactic acid that builds up during exercise. From memory, it also helps with ATP recovery and electrolyte counts.

i did PE in year 11, so i even know what ATP stands for... not sure exactly what electrolytes are but powerade says it's good for them

Eletrolytes are the minerals and salts and stuff that you lose when you sweat? Or something similar? I only "know" (and i use the term loosely) that cos of horses. But yeah, you'd think it'd be pretty similar...
