i was just listening to this masterpiece
and it occurred to me...just how damn good is this song?
clocking in at 8 minutes, its more than 3 minutes longer than any other song they have (apart from Rats, which we don't have yet)
its magnificently written, and i can't find any flaws in this mini rock opera that they've totally managed to nail.
the lyrics and the solo and the drumming and everything...i just think its perfect
which begs the question...do we want to see more of these epic, extended anthems?
i sure as hell do, seeing how well The Room works. its one of my biggest favourites, and i think a few more like it would really hit the spot.
excuse the rambling...

Yes. I've always wanted another epic. Bring it. Then again, it's better that they release another one when they're ready and not rush one for us.

As long as they don't end up releasing their own "American Idiot"esque album then I'm all for it...
Long rock songs don't bother me at all (I'm a big fan of progressive rock) - but any track that goes for more than 20 minutes is a bit of a stretch though - à la "Tales of Topographic Oceans" by Yes

I love The Room.
They should do another one, but rarely write one, just to keep it special.

I don't actually listen to The Room much. It IS a fantastic song, but for whatever reason i just don't regularly spin it.
I guess that means i'm not fussed!

hmm
well while this isn't really a Rats forum, and i'd prefer we discuss the Room...:P
i was listening to Iron Maiden the other day and reliving Rats from Longnecks gigs i went to, and i just really craved a recorded version. it'll be their only other song over 6 minutes, and i need another epic!!!!
having said that, i was just listening to She's Calling Out the other day, and while its not long and isn't an mini opera or anything, i reckon its the closest thing to an epic from the WN sessions. love the lyrics, love the music, and its got an awesome feel

i wasn't saying it was better than anything else...
i was just saying the fade in intro, the lyrics...its a powerful, meaningful song
probably the most so out of any other WN B-side

Rats = 6mins 23 secs of sheer awesomeness
Might be changed by the time the next album comes around

I'd say She's Calling Out or Hopeless are the epic ones, New Frontier gets the same alot.

that may be so but Hopeless is really poor, whereas She's Calling Out is possibly the best B-side to come out of the sessions...
