View Full Version : Your ideal setlist

Let's be creative. Looking at the disappointing setlist thread made me think about the thread I started a couple years back. Now, you decide, if you were to write the band's set list, what would it be? It doesn't have to be for a packed show, what if you had the money for them to play at your birthday party or something? Please keep a realistic length, I don't think TLE are up to playing for 8 hours straight, keep it at about 2 hours, which is about 25-ish songs I think.
My set list:
1. Moment In The Sun
2. State Of Emergency
3. Fly Away
4. Silent Victory
5. Maitland Street
6. Raise The Alarm
7. Save The Day
8. Astoria Paranoia
9. Waiting For The Silence
10. There Is No Radio
11. Growing Up (Falling Down)
12. Enemy of Time
13. Make The Call
14. Hold Up
15. Black Cat
16. Stay Away From Me
17. Dirty Man
18. How Do We Know?
19. 'Til The End
20. Misspent Youth
21. I Want A Day
22. Prisoner of Society
23. Killing The Right
24. Down To The Wire
Encore
25. She's Calling Out
26. So Lonely
27. New Frontier
Final Encore: The Room
I think it'd be great.

The Chelsea setlist will come later when I'm not so cramped for time. I have to think this one through instead of just throwing some songs down!

Fuck me, I can't believe that no one has said Stay Away From Me!!!! What the fuck is wrong with you people?
As far as ideal setlists are concerned, if it had Stay Away, and a cover of Dumb Things by Paul Kelly, I'd leave feeling a very happy man!

6. I Can't Give You What I Haven't Got

9. Loaded Gun
10. EP Medley
11. Beware The Moon
12. She's Calling Out
13. Rats
14. Killing The Right
15. Blood On Your Hands
16. End Of The World

18. Riot On Broadway
19. All Torn Down
20. State Of Emergency
---------E-Boogie / Encore----------
21. Roll On
22. Second Solution
23. West End Riot
I know it's a bit heavy on the rockier tunes. I think 25 songs is pretty long, and I used the EP Medley in there anyway so it all balances out. If I could have, I would've included The Room, Monday, One Step Behind, and Into The Red.
Wasn't thinking of any covers, maybe Sunday Bloody Sunday, Girls Talk or Rip It Up would be sweet though. Gosh.

Here's my ideal setlist... I thought I'd give it a shot after the announcement of the Raise The Alarm tour.
I think I was aiming at 'epic' to suit the massive venues (hence 2.5 hours haha). I tried to make it as believable as possible given the enormous length..
-------<<The Living End>>-------
Make The Call
One Said To The Other
Prisoner of Society
How Do We Know
Who's Gonna Save Us
Save The Day
EP Medley (aka The 1996 Remix)
Uncle Harry (all ages...better TLE's version that listening to the kids sing it towards the end)
The Room
Loaded Gun
Carry Me Home
All Torn Down
Run To Paradise/Roll on
-----------<<Band returns with chilled atmosphere...Andy on stand up kit (like FHOI tour)>>---------
Rising Sun
The Wild One
Blue Moon of Kentucky (acoustic)
Prisoner on the Inside (acoustic)
Kid
So Lonely
-------<<Back on stage to usual energy>>--------
Raise The Alarm
Second Solution
Tabloid Magazine
Moment In The Sun
Waiting For The Silence
Nothing Lasts Forever
E-Boogie (with a new intro, ie not mystery train)
West End Riot (finale version)
---------<<Encore>>----------
Wake Up
Tainted Love
White Noise
-----------------------------------------
I tried to include the hits necessary for an arena gig with half-fans who just wanna hear the songs they know...
The way I see it, without the relaxed 6 songs in the middle, its a plausible 24 song 2hr rock concert. With that break in the middle, I reckon the band and crowd may be able to go the journey...
I guess I've felt after every gig of theirs I've been to so far it's fallen short length-wise and they'd have to play for ages until I'm satisfied.
Whatta u all reckon?????? I reckon I did ok to cut it down from 41 songs lol.

Alright, i'm gonna have a stab.
Raise The Alarm
Make The Call
Growing Up (Falling Down)

Tragedy
How Do We Know
Second Solution
Run To Paradise/Roll On
Who's Gonna Save Us?
Loaded Gun
EP Medley
All Torn Down
Stay Away From Me
Wake Up
Carry Me Home
---;Encore;---
Extended version of Channel Nine Cricket Theme Song.
Prisoner of Society
West End Riot.
Yeah, may aswell chuck some rareties on there, as the Raise The Alarm tour is also promoting the Rareties/White Noise collection.
That would be extreme.

Rather than going to the trouble of making up a complete set list I'm only going to say the songs that I reckon should be making an appearance but aren't. :)
They are:
Monday
One Said To The Other
Carry Me Home
'Til the End
Hold Up
I'd maybe chuck in a few B sides like Lone Ranger and Don't Turn Away but I reckon those^^ bad boys should make the list first :D
On the topic of the acoustic CD, I wouldn't like to see it. I'd go and buy it but I reckon The Living End are the kind of band that need to be LOUD 24/7!
Big J.G
02-10-2009, 03:48 PM
They don't NEED to be loud 24/7.
I suppose the only non cover original acoustic song they did was Man with No Name.
All the other Acoustics are either Covers or an Acoustic version of one of their songs.

well it is an IDEAL setlist... she can dream. plus, TLE are gods. they can do anything. duh.
then it's weird that I saw these gods almost washed out after 14 songs, not 28...:innocent:
so...that means it's possible to play this setlist in 2 days!

They were clearly faking... they wouldn't want us mortals to know of their supreme abilities..

well hopefully you do :)
in any case I can sum up songs from couple of gigs to get more
(though I'm not too happy that they played absolutely identical sets two nights in a row first time I've seen them live)

Hmm haha :)
Thats gotta suck for your first time seeing them live, that they did two identical sets both nights! :(
Chris seemed to be...lazy to write a new list of songs:p
anyway, it was cool enough to be happy. and it was my fault that I forgot what songs I really wanted them to play when I was asked about it! I could think only of Sum of Us...
but, after the show I remembered about We Want More, Waiting for a Silence and others from my wish list:ermm:
*besides, after meeting TLE I learned to write down all song requests and questions for a next time! :D seeing how fast I tend to forget things in moment X :)

I think the boys got banned from writing their own setlists because they did a couple of bombs.

I love bands who write their own setlists, it's much better AND they can change it up. Our Lady Peace is an example who I'm pretty sure writes their own and changes it every show! So you might miss out on your favourite (maybe obscure) song the next night.
