Hey Guys!
It's my Dad's 50th birthday in a few weeks and you're all invited.....to give me any suggestions for drinks :p
I'm looking after the alcohol and entertainment side of things and mum is doing food and other things.
I'm mostly after punch/cocktails. People will bring their own, but we're going to provide some extra anyway.
So if any of you have a good recipe or 5 for punch or have a favourite cocktail that you think I should know about, please post away! :D
*EDIT - Of course forumers under the age of 18 wont be posting in this thread, right guys? ;) :p

Haha, yeah, beer certainly does go down well!
I was thinking something vodka based, so your idea is a start! I think i've got some cocktail sort of books around here somewhere..

jager bombs... though maybe not suitable for a 50th
umm vodka/tequila sunrises... go in this order: ice, vodka/tequila (bout an inch-2 inches) orange juice, then get a spoon, hold it upside down on the side of the glass and run raspberry cordial down it... if you do it right it'll go down to the bottom so it'll be red at the bottom and orange on top. if you're feelin risky u can try it without the spoon... but it probably won't end up that well.
another one is ice, vodka/tequila/gin, raspberry cordial, and lemon squash/lift... go in that order and when you pour the lift in pour it fast the raspberry should stay at the bottom.
vodka lemon lime always goes down a treat as does just your plain old vodka raspberry

Haha, jager bombs...not so sure that mum and dad will go for them...you never know! :p I haven't had jager in AGES!
I've made tequila sunrises at work before so thats no problem.
The vodka/tequila/gin combo sounds good!

I agree with Marv, beer beer beer! And none of that cascade toilet water either, only boags will do.
As for vodka based stuff I wouldn't have a clue, anyhow, whatever you make, after 2 or 3 drinks, no one can remember.

Geez, kids these days. Back in my younger days we were too busy for alcohol, playing with marbles and reading Ginger Meggs.

Exactly my friend! So why get all fancy and expensive Nicole, when you can be cheap and exploitive and attain the same "end result"?!

Because:
a) I don't have to pay a single cent for any of it and
b) The more expensive stuff, more often than not, has a higher alcohol content :D :p
I'll see what Mother thinks first, and go from there!

the only punch I'm familiar with is jungle juice - fruit punch and vodka (or everclear), possibly with chunks of fruit floating in it. stir and enjoy.
I'm sure there's plenty of cocktail recipes floating around on the internet, from actual bartenders rather than us young'uns. the closest thing I've come to 'sophisticated' is pre-mixed appletini stuff (which is surprisingly not bad).
or um, coke and a handle of Jack Daniels if all else fails.
Best punch = tequila and food colouring.

and contrary to what one might believe, capping off several beers with a round of tequila shooters just isn't the way to go.

speaking of jack daniels, bake a fruit cake, but soak the fruit overnight in a whole bottle of jack daniels, and add some to the cake mix too.
it will be a sure hit :)
