if what i hear is true, TLE have done a trick on stage during concerts in which Scott balances on his bass while playing and singing, while Chris is also on top of scott playing, forming some kind of pyramid.
if this is true, does anyone have a video/picture proof
if not, sorry to waste your time 0_0

Welcome, Coop_Dawg!
Here's a thread where you can ask all TLE related questions: The Stupid Questions Thread (http://www.thelivingend.com/vBforum/showthread.php?t=81).

@grum: Yeah true^^^
I think its probably in a few SOE era West end riots in the outro bit where they go crazy. Try youtube.

YouTube would be your best bet, or you could sift through all the videos in the Video Thread (http://www.thelivingend.com/vBforum/showthread.php?t=7). :)
You boob is the answer.
shifted to the questions thread.

About the 2:50 mark. This is what you're after. They've been doing this regularly since the State Of Emergency tours, but it made a regular appearance on the fly during their young and enthusiastic days!

Why does Chris hate Do What I Do? I love that song.
Meh more serious stuff......When The Living End used to be The Runaway Boys, they recorded a song called Real Gone Cats. Who wrote it? I've been looking around and I haven't found anything.
p.s. sounds like a stupid quesion but why does the single version of Long Live The Weekend have the small 'intro' thing to it?
p.p.s. why does the long live the weekend single have a different fan mail address then all their other albums?

1. I've heard multiple stories on DWID, one says Chris hates it, another says he doesn't hate it - but the band had to cut it to save costs for later pressings or something similar, another says he has no idea why the song was cut. I think the second one is the real answer.
2. Real Gone Cats... I've not heard this - I think 23rdPrecinct has it but I have no idea. Chris probably wrote it, unless it's a cover, obviously.
3. LLTW has a longer intro on the single version because... it makes it different from the album version :). The band probably thought 'hey let's do this and surprise everyone lols' and went for it. I quite like it, but I honestly think that they just put it on 'because they could'.
4. They must've changed their fan mail address, I guess. Wake Up has the same fan mail address (Chelsea) as LLTW, but What's On Your Radio (yes, both versions) has the old Fitzroy address (as does State Of Emergency).
Any more questions, anyone? The doctor is in.
Colezy
01-20-2008, 01:12 PM
Yeah TLE up and moved their office at some point in 2006, so it would be pointless having the old address on the CDs cos no one would receive the mail..or the wrong people would!!
Many bands have slightly different versions of songs on their cd singles. Having the LLTW intro on there is like other bands who put an extended remix or something on the single. Same stuff.
Real Gone Cats...from memory, I think that was just a mashup of several old school 50's rockabilly songs that Chris put together and played as one song. That's why none of us have ever found out who wrote it. I could be wrong though.
As for DWID - I have no idea. I've heard that many theories over the years that I get confused :p
drifta_21
01-20-2008, 02:20 PM
phew I was about to send a letter top their old address haha. If I get to see Chris or Scott i'm gonna ask em about Do What I Do to clear everything up, cause this is just too confusing haha.
Come to think about it, Real Gone Cats mite just be a song written by Chris or Scott (maybe even by Joey) that they didn't use when they became The Living End (just my theory).
p.s. we need to update the FAQ thread then if it's at Frankston now
The Dying Start
01-20-2008, 07:39 PM
Real Gone Cats is a mashup. It borrows alot from the Stray Cats, and a few other rockabilly / neo rockabilly type tunes.
Just remember that when they were The Runaway Boys they played 98% covers! So Lonely was the first original tune they wrote, and it's also one of the only Runaway Boys tracks that ever made it out as a TLE track.

My old saxophone teacher played with a ska band called The Seen and she told me that they played a show or toured with TLE (one of them, I can't remember which) once. Anyone know anything about this?
Sarah
01-21-2008, 01:33 AM
I'd say they did a show, cos otherwise they'd have plugged a whole tour on here (http://www.mp3.com.au/artist.asp?id=4775)
All_torn_down16
01-21-2008, 01:38 AM
I thought it would have only been a show. I'd like to know a bit about it though since my teacher never seemed to want to talk about it. She just kept on saying that they're nice guys (TLE that is). Thanks for the link by the way! Her name's on that webpage. Kate Mawson hehe!
Sarah
01-21-2008, 01:40 AM
no worries.
if it was just the one show though, then perhaps there isn't very much for her to be talking about?
All_torn_down16
01-21-2008, 01:46 AM
Haha! Maybe not but I just wanted to know what sort of conversations she had with the guys since I was a very new and enthuiastic fan when I asked.
It seems like The Seen are actually more famous than I thought judging by that webpage. Whenever I looked them up there was hardely any information on them.
Sarah
01-21-2008, 02:08 AM

What kind of trouble? I ordered some merch on January 18th, and it's now Feb 25th and I still haven't received anything. I'm really getting sick of online orders taking FOREVER. It happened twice with Big Cheese Magazine and I had to go through the trouble of e-mailing them about it both times.

Well, we ordered two shirts, and they only sent the one, and then it took about a month for them to answer our email, and then another 2-3 weeks for them to get us the shirt. Granted they got the shirt to us, but not on time. The package of my shirts just came today, but they're for my birthday in 2 days, so i can't open them to check if it's correct:(

Hey i was just wondering why blinded hasnever been included on an album?
it was on the one said to the other cd i think, but it defintly deservedto be on an album.
does anyone know why it wasnt?
The Dying Start
03-05-2008, 06:36 PM
Just because it was a Bside, and they already had a full tracklisting for Modern Artillery...so it just stayed as a Bside. I believe there was some regret that it never made it to an album, because it was generally accepted as being of "Single" quality. But these things happen, and i suppose it's hard to know how a song will be received right off the bat.
Wild Turkey
03-05-2008, 07:04 PM

I seem to remember the orignial round (2000) was a top secret, almost, invite only for the cool kids. Uncool kids (ie. yours truely) weren't allowed to be told til after the shows.

2000 did indeed hold some super secret shows, such as the Checkout Chicks and Roller Toaster.
It wasnt so much 'invite only', more a case of whether or not you knew the right little birdy ;) But that little birdy definately wanted it kept hush-hush...

Singles are often added to radio playlists a month in advance of their physical / digital release, so it's not unusual. Bearing in mind, White Noise was supposed to go to radio next week, I do believe... I seem to remember an early June date (was it June 2nd?) being dicussed about the song being added to radio but it must've been brought forward for some reason or another.
EDIT: I found where I read June 2nd - it was on the Dew Process thing about White Noise and the Triple J gig - "The first single, also titled White Noise, will be serviced to media on June 2 and available in-stores and online July 5."

** Embargoed May 30 ** So keen to bring home a brand new song to Australian audiences, THE LIVING END have barely finished mixing and mastering the title track and first single from their upcoming album WHITE NOISE before delivering it to media on June 2. Written towards the end of the album songwriting sessions, `White Noise` is a song that literally jumped out of the studio, leap-frogging other first single contenders. Instantly memorable yet still taut and powerful, `White Noise` reflects the vibrant spirit that was flowing through the studio and the desire for the band to capture their sound in a more uninhibited, less studied way. Recorded in under 5 weeks during April and May at Water Music Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey with producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, The Hold Steady), THE LIVING END then decamped to Atlanta, Georgia to mix the tracks with the legendary Brendan O`Brien (RATM, Soundgarden). O`Brien is a man in high demand with commitments to record the new AC/DC and Pearl Jam records either side of his work with TLE. Setting a blistering pace, O`Brien mixed two tracks a day, completing the album in only 8 days. The band`s first single, `White Noise` will be released via Dew Process/Universal in-store and online 5 July. The album, also titled WHITE NOISE will be released 19 July.
