In continuation from the MODart songs thread... I figured it'd be somewhat worthwhile to have a single thread with a list of the songs never played live, or songs that are rarely played. If I'm wrong on some of these, let me know and I'll edit as appropriate. Some of these I'm not sure of.

Never played:

Blood On Your Hands
Bringin' It All Back Home
In The End
Nowhere Town
Order Of The Day
Putting You Down
Silent Victory (?)
Sleep On It (?)
State Of Emergency
Staring At The Light
Rising Up From The Ashes

Obviously it'd be crazy to include b-sides, half of them are demos, and it's difficult to fathom which of the covers have been played at gigs like secret shows or Longecks, etc. (I know Girls Talk got a run on the SOE-era Longnecks tour).

I've opted not to include songs that have only been played under an alter-ego / at secret show, e.g. 21st Century has been played live by The Longnecks, but TLE have not peformed the song live.

Now, onto the rarely played live songs. I'm listing songs that have rarely been played, and am not including songs that have had a fair run over the years (e.g Save The Day was a live staple years ago, but is not played today - arguably is rare these days, but is not included for the sake of catching those tracks that have only been played a handful of times or only on one tour)

Rarely performed songs:

Astoria Paranoia
Back To Black (Amy Winehouse cover - APPARENTLY this was played once or twice at the beginning of the White Noise tour, but has never been played since)
Black Cat
Don't Shut The Gate
English Army (and for that matter, any of the EP songs - at least EA gets played very very rarely as opposed to not at all, like the others)
Friday On My Mind (apparently this has been played very few times... but played nevertheless?)
Have They Forgotten
Hold Up
Jimmy
Kid
Killing The Right
Maitland Street
No Way Out
Nothing Lasts Forever
One Step Behind
Read About It
Reborn
Riot On Broadway
The Room
Short Notice
So What?

Appeal these rarely played tracks and they will be amended! I'm personally sketchy about Tab Mag and some of the SOE songs, really. The SOE songs haven't had that long to become "rare", really - those in the list just haven't been played since the SOE tours.

I think English Army has had a good run considering how old it is now.

Hold Up and Into the Red also had a solid few years. And same with Tabloid Magazine (probably not the most played live single), but it still got some solid set list spots for a long while.

They're probably considered rarely played now, but it wasn't always the case like the rest on the list.

Dirty Man and Trapped also - I thought - got a reasonable run in their times.

I know they had the A7 horn section along for the ride on the STD tour specifically to do Trapped.

Trapped would be so mad to play live, Fingers crossed they might do something when they support Chisel ;)

Do they play Growing Up ( Falling Down ) much anymore ? Can't remember reading it in any recent setlists ?

I think I've heard them play Rising Up From The Ashes before. Could be wrong.

Btw, these Bsides were the only ones performed live that I know of:

Prisoner on the Inside
Lone Ranger
Girls Talk
Blinded
Blue Moon of Kentucky (it was backstage, but still infront of an Audience).

And most of them were only played once.

Obviously they've done a ton as Longnecks, etc. (New Frontier, etc.) - but they did Fond Farewell and Blinded for a while around the time of the OSTTO single release. Including b-sides'll make this messy, in my opinion (yet I've included Tainted Love... might take that out). Listen Up Suzy got a run on the WN tour, too.

Rising Up From the Ashes seems familiar to me also...but we could both be wrong!

and
Sunday Bloody Sunday (y a w n)
I've Just Seen a Face (you lucky bastards)
Train Kept a Rollin
Rip It Up (does that count as a b-side?)
probably more...

is there a place these lists are already recorded (kinda like Benny's list of all TLE songs). It seems every 12 months or so we go through all this stuff over and over. Good work out for the ol' brain though I guess!

Yeah, same, except I can't stand the song :p

Uncle Harry (plus hooligans) was much more epic! Actually, that whole show was a stand out.

They did SBS on L@TW too didn't they?

I envy you, old fans! :p You've seen so many great things in the past. I can't say I saw something unusual/epic so far!

On the Modern Artillery tour 2003 Chris was asked to play Closing In at the soundcheck and got a couple of bars in and declined. When asked afterwards had it ever been given a live run he said "Yeah, it would have done back when I wrote it". So i guess you can take it off the "never played" list.

I also have a number of issues with tracks in the rarely played pile, because some were actually "Regularly played", if only for their album tours. They may be rare in the scheme of a 15 year career, but for their release period they got a good run.

Living End sure have a knack for covers. Tainted Love and Sunday Bloody sunday are just flawless and they really make them their own.

"Chris was asked to play Closing In at the soundcheck and got a couple of bars in and declined" - exactly same thing happened in Oslo this june. Except they were asked to play it during the show. He couldn't remember the rest :p

List 'em and I'll amend.
