Im 14 and im a newbie and im addicted to
i have been asking around about dying my hair red lately like the colour that chris has it.
A hair dresser told me that because of my natural hair color(dark brown) i would have to dye it lighter and then dye it red.
Does any1 no a way around dying my hair twice?
Thanks

i believe i saw an interview with chris saying he had to peroxide it first too
Bleach it then dye it?
thats what the kid said. dyeing it twice.
kid, theres no way I know of getting around this. if your hair is darker than the colour you want it to be, you have to bleach your current colour out of it and then you can make it the shade you want.

Chris has blonde hair nowadays anyway.
I died my hair red once. Turned out bright pink. Even though it was supposed to be about as red as the post reply button.
So I had to go get it died again a darker color. It was embarrasing.

I bleached my hair first when I did it green. I was told bleach it twice if it's yellow and not white. But I left it yellow and it was still bloody bright. I was going to get a brighter green originally too.

Yeah I'm afraid bleaching is pretty much the only option, without the bleach it doesn't come out bright. Trust me, I'm the proud owner of shiny bright red hair haha.

There is a type of red hair dye that bleaches at the same time it is colouring your hair, thats what i did last time i had red. But it still leaves bleached hair when the red eventually washes out - that doesn't take long. I spose your best bed would be to ask a hairdresser.

Yeah bleaching it and then making it red, it'll fade to bleach. And red fades really, really fast, even the permanent dyes, but the brightest ones I use are 'semi permanent', like fudge and wakk, wakk's really good if you can find it!

I had pink Wakk and it was the best!!
Yehhhh, i dye my hair all too often.

I did the black with pink streaks thing a few times. I liked it... but it was too much effort to keep it looking decent. I'm a lazy lazy person.
If you use the red straight onto your dark brown hair it'll just be a very dark red, more of a natural mahogany type colour than a bright red though.

Yeah I've used Fudge a couple of times, that's pretty good! Red hair does fade quickly though, so you gotta keep dying it to avoid it looking orange like a carrot haha

I used to have bright orange/red hair back in my pre-bigW days (damn work). If you want it supa bright you need to fully bleach it first. I used L'Oreal copper something-or-other on top of my platinum to get my colour. If I was having a lazy month (yeah, like everyone said before, even permanent red washes/fades out) I would skip the bleaching part and just do the red. The product i used had a bleaching agent in it also, so it would lighten and redden at the same time - it just wasn't as bright as doing the full process - hope that helps :)
oh and if you want a packet of that stuff I've still got one in my cupboard I haven't used...did i mention how much work sucks??

Chris is naturaly a strawberry blonde, so if he has to bleach it first, then practically anyone would!

if you really want it to be perfect, and to stay long, you could go to a professional hairdressers. that's pricey though.

Even if you go to a hairdresser they still have to bleach it to get your hair bright red!

yeah but, i've found the hair dyes the hair dresser uses fades less than just store bought ones, so won' t have to dye it and bleach it as much.
i can't see any real way to get around dyeing it twice, unless you don't care if it doesn't come out perfect.

Yeah...if you just wack the red in you'll have dark red hair...which personally I'd prefer.

Bottle-o's
you've probably got some in your laundry!
haha, a girl from my highschool did bleach her hair with white king or something else she found in her laundry, it looked awful. its gross when people just bleach their hair and then put no colour in it. hers was sort of yellow and all crusty looking.

A friend's neighbour's sister once tried to bleach her hair with pool chlorine, and it all burnt/fell out. So..........do that!

 Bloody hell! Having chlorine in your hair constantly for 8 years due to swimming training wrecks your hair too. Makes it all straw-like and pretty gross, trust me! :p

that's coz it's temporary colour (I assume) which are more bright than semi-permanent colours. I'm bleaching my hair right now, I hope it looks good after the dye again :D
