Welcome to The Living End June News.
Well, we hope all is well out there for you dedicated TLE enthusiasts, wherever you happen to be in the world.
Things are moving along here in Melbourne as The Living End are still hard at work toiling away on new songs and surprises for their sixth album. Working in the rehearsal studio day and night, TLE have been churning out some gems, and trust us, we are very much liking what we hear so far! As the year progresses we will be sure to keep you updated as to when the boys will commence recording this album. From there on in things will truly get exciting.
On the topic of writing songs, this month we have two truly thrilling pieces of news this month with relation to The Living End's indisputably great songwriting. You might remember that last year Chris Cheney scooped up the illustrious and peer voted APRA Song of the Year Award for White Noise. Well, he is backing it up in 2010 with a huge three nominations for this years' awards! White Noise is up for a gong once again in the Rock Work of the Year Category. Meanwhile, Raise the Alarm has garnered two nominations, in the Rock Work of the Year & Most Played Australian Work categories. The awards will be handed out at a ceremony in Sydney on June 21st. Best of luck!
Second piece of songwriting related news is more internationally focused. 2010 has seen White Noise take out another prestigious award, this one claiming the Rock Category in this years' International Songwriting Contest. With all varieties of musical celebrities voting for the winners, this is truly very good news. We wish TLE another huge congratulations. Now, if you happen to be on Facebook these days (and really, who isn't?) we have a word of warning for you. If, in your cyber wanderings you come across either of these Facebook pages claiming to be TLE's own Chris Cheney ( Facebook , Facebook ) trust us, this is not him! Let us tell you, the best and most reliable way of getting the scoop on all The Living End related news is to join the mailing list (as we see you have already done) or to follow the official TLE Facebook or Myspace pages, which are to be found at the bottom of this email. We'll sort you with all the juicy gossip, promise.
Last, and certainly not least is our reminder of the stellar news that The Living End will be firing up to take the stage at the 2010 Community Cup charity football match. It's only a couple of weeks away, and promises to be a fantastic (if slightly chilly) event, with TLE taking on half time entertainment duties in a special live set. They have even promised to pull out a couple of Clash covers in keeping with the theme of this years' event. It's going to be one rockin' afternoon for one hell of a good cause, so get yourselves down to Elsternwick Park, Melbourne on Sunday June 27th.
