It would be constructive in a way that would pick it apart... so a bit of both, really. I could soften the blow by pointing out the positives as well but that's less fun for me.

Alright alright, since you're so curious.

I think your colored pencil work is quite impressive, actually. I loved how you used colour as shadow instead of opting for boring old blacks and greys.

However.

The bottom half of Scott's face looks a little... puffy and awkward. Sorta.. reminiscent of burn scarring? But I understand that faces *are* pretty hard to draw, and I do remember you saying that you hadn't picked up a pencil in however many years, so I say... good effort.

Although some may say that there's no fun in a drawn image looking exactly like a photo, I still love that style simply because of the admiration I have for the artist's incredible skill and the time they put into the piece to get it looking so ... photo-realistic. I would love to be able to do that.

I know you said that if you were going for a more photo-realistic look you could just take a photo, but in my opinion that shouldn't mean one should leave their subject's lower-face looking far more abstract than the rest of the drawing.

and yes - i do like the aim of photorealism - but with the use of pencils solely to create the image you're never going to get THAT close...

i also work with a far loser style than that of a photorealist - hence my indefference to all the flaws in my drawing...

if you are trying to capture your subject photorealistically - you will need to sharpen your pencil a little...

i do like the works that you posted on the other page BUT they are all quite soft focus...

i could probably do a bit of a critique but it's nearly home time...

the Marshall amp Chris is next to is a real 1 watt amp, I bought it the other day. The overdrive sounds pretty good... haha off to the muso's corner!
The bass is a picture (I think DP took it) I had on my computer, with a little editing out of arms and hands, and printed onto paper, glued onto cardboard to help it stand up. In that picture it looks a pretty convincing 3d!! :p

hehe some photos Chris has brown-ey eyes, you can't see it but there's actually a little bit of green in the dolls eyes ;)

Also, I printed out a big black-and-white version of that picture (screaming Scotty) and cut it out with scissors and a stanley knife, and drew it on with permament textas. The finer details (very few of them) were freehand.

i like it - the outside is felt and the inside is satin

it feels nice and it's the nicest red felt i've ever seen!

*Edit: -just for information's sake the BGD logo is cut out of felt and hand stitched on
(that's why it doesn't have F Holes - i couldn't cut the bloody things out!)
but the back of the stitching was really cool, neat and everything!

i got my brother started with the sewing machine and now he's hoping to learn how to do it a bit better - i think he was inpressed with my bag...

it was my own rather basic design - i even had to do maths so that i could make sure that i had everyhing in the correct size scale (ie a seam for the lining and how ig it should be based on the size of the shell...

as an idea - the finished bag size is about the same size as an A4 piece of paper... maybe a little bigger!

if i get to meet the boys at the Luna Park gig (doubt it but even so a girl can dream) i'm going to get them to sign it and then i will probably stitch over their signatures... maybe - not 100% sure... i might be too freaked out about meeting them and have absolutely nothing to say...
