I've been hearing a lot about it through myspace and friends and I was wondering whether or not it'd be worth going to. It'd be my first festival type gig if i end up going and just wondering what to expect and all that. Is it worth getting tickets for? thanks.

do you like the lineup?

I really like a few bands playing, but $70 is a helleva lot of money for someone without a job to pay for a ticket. I'll see how I go and if I have a job in the near future, I'm there.

The inaugural end of school all ages alternative rock fest "Thank God Its Over" kicks off in Victoria on Saturday 14th October and Queensland on Sunday 15th October.

It'll be a massive muck up day - no teachers to worry about, the best bands & dj's Australia can offer, take no prisoners sound system, carnival rides and in Melbourne, a "Myspace" unsigned band stage for you stadium rockstars of the future.

I wanted to go, cept Ben isn't so I'm not anymore. I don't mind too much though, I've seen pretty much all of those bands anyway. Would have gone mainly for Gyroscope, Grinspoon and Shihad.

But yeah, have fun those who go.

wow - i just went to their website - they need to fix up some of their links...
(the web mistress in me is very annoyed at them for having broken links and the like - i'm sorry but i can't help it!)

other than that - the line-ups look ok... 'cept i'm not a school leaver this year and i am not from Melbourne or Brisbane...

Some kid at work asked me if I was going to this...I had no idea what it was, so thanks for the link. I don't think I'd pay that much to go hang out with school kids though, unless there were really really good bands playing.

i don't mind the lineup, i like most of the bands playing. and i wouldn't mind checking out the bands i've not heard before. but the $70 for the tickets might be a bit of a stretch on my budget.

Check if the seating is sold out if you go... the Myer Music Bowl usually dont let you in the seating area if you haven't got a seating ticket, which is up the front. If that's the case I'd give it a miss.. unless you really love the bands playing (The Casanovas, Dallas Crane, Shihad, Grinspoon...).

i was gonna go to the brissy one but got in too late for the early bird one and am not payin $70. plus the DJ's would annoy me and all the little teeny boppers

I was going to go for Grinspoon, Shihad and Dallas Crane, but then... isn't it a end of year 12 exams gig anyway? As in, thank god VCE is over? There were $50 early bird tickets a month or so back as well. Damn.

Yeah, that's the idea. But it's an AA show. If they were selective and only allowed Yr 12s, that'd be kinda dumb wouldn't it haha

Yeah that's what I thought.... but I kinda had the worst case scenario in my head, in which I rock up with friends, and there's a whole bunch of year 12's staring at me going 'excuuuse me!' and then we get kicked out by security. But yeah, can't really see that happening.

there was an ad on myspace saying myspace users can get $50 tickets.. they mustn't be selling many tickets.

I think it's actually pretty dumb timing. Because yeah, maybe the yr 12s have finished their classes but they'd all be studying for exams then.

If i weren't going to be in Sydney the day of the Brisbane one, and if Grinspoon played there and not just Melbourne, i would go.

I think it's actually pretty dumb timing. Because yeah, maybe the yr 12s have finished their classes but they'd all be studying for exams then.I think it's for all the students who don't care how well they go ... so they wouldn't be studying anyway and want to celebrate the end of classes :p But yeah, pretty stupid timing.

Yeah, myspazz has some special offer going, $50 tickets.
I'd really only go for Dallas Crane to be honest, i'm not much of a fan of the other bands. Karnivool'd be cool too. But i just can't be bothered. Besides, its the day after Zombie Ghost Train and i know i'd be forced to choose just one and i'm not missing out on ZGT!

Some guy at school, his sister won two tickets and he's selling 'em for $30. As in $30 for two. That's a hell of a deal!
